Cardiff City Managers Office. The phone rings.
Faithful assistant Lee 'Blimey' O'Reilly picks up. He's recently changed his name to O'Reilly as a result of a technical analysis that showed fellow countrymen in a Manager/Coach relationship have a one in twelve chance of improving possession stats by 3.86%. In Canadian high school soccer anyway. It's all about the marginal gains.
Faithful Lee; 'Pep - it's your Da'
BBM; 'Lee, stop calling me that. I'm my own man. I don't just do everything Pep does.'
'Hola, Da, what now? I thought I told you to leave me alone.'
Da; 'Disappointing result against Bolton, son.'
'Do you remember, son, when you were 6 and refused to change your underpants for 8 weeks?'
'You hovered outside the bog going sideways and backwards for 90 minutes, waiting for the ideal opportunity to unload.'
'But it never came and you kept those pants on for another week.'
'Do you remember that, son?'
BBM; 'Da, I was happy with the stats and the analysis showed if I'd have kept on waiting the opening would have come and I'd have got a clean pair of pants on at some point during the week'
Da; 'I think you were being a bit naive there, son. Do you remember what actually happened and the mess your Ma had to sort out? It was worse than Rochdale.'
BBM; 'Not now, Da, I'm preparing for Charlton. Adios.' Puts phone down.
'So, Lee, formation for Charlton? I'm sticking with the same starting 11. Especially Salech, Willock and Tanner up front - pretty sure the goals will come. The bench picks itself, obviously, so no changes there.'
Faithful Lee; 'Blimey. To be sure.'
