Our style of play

I think that part of the problem with the way we play is that there doesn't seem to be any ability to alter that style, to take a different approach, to "mix things up a bit" - a plan B if you like.

It's an entertaining style of football and pleasing on the eye but as we've seen this season (and a few times last season) if it's not working we don't seem to have the ability to change our approach to give the opposition different problems to deal with.

Substitutions are usually like for like, set pieces are usually the same, our build up play is usually done at the same pace, our shape remains the same.

We're good at what we do but we're predictable and better players and better managers in the Championship will know how to deal with that.

I'm not advocating that we start lumping the ball forward at every opportunity but I'd like to think that we can be looking to speed things up in the "transition" as they say nowadays and perhaps look at a different approach if our main style of play isn't working.

Some innovation would be great too - loved the fact that we left four players on the halfway line for corners at Derby. But that seems to be a one-off.

BBM has a reputation as an innovative coach. I'd like to see a bit more variety in our play. The problem may be of course that we don't have the players to do it.
