This squad will get relegated.

Sat Sep 12, 2026 1:36 pm

Once again we don't take our chances and can't keep a clean sheet.

No wins in 7 games and we've had a fairly easy fixture list to start the season.

There are too many division one players in this squad and it is going to cost us our championship place unless there some quality players brought in which is now highly unlikely.

Don't be so negative.

As long as we keep playing well apparently wins will magically appear from somewhere.

At the current rate we'll end up with a whole 26 points this season.

We may well end up getting relegated if we, as a fanbase, keep adding even more negativity and pressure to the situation.

Trust me, I'm as frustrated as anyone, but we're creating more clear-cut chances than almost anyone in the Championship. For a newly promoted team, that's almost unheard of.

We've also been incredibly unlucky with injuries. Giving Ruban the sort of space some of the others had today and I'm convinced he makes something happen.

The transfer window is the huge elephant in the room. I know bringing someone in is a gamble, but a fresh face in the dressing room like Rabbi Matondo could provide exactly the lift, competition and distraction we need right now.

Otherwise, maybe putting Kpakio further forward could offer something different and inject some fresh energy into the attack.

The one thing we absolutely cannot do is abandon the way we're playing, because some of the football has been fantastic.

Changing our approach isn't suddenly going to make us more clinical. If anything, we'll probably end up creating fewer chances, and when finishing is already our biggest problem, that's the last thing we need.

We may get relegated, but it's not the end of the world.

We will drop without Robinson, Turnbull, Chambers, and Willock. Other than Robertson, who BBM has gone all out on, those are the only players not signed or extended by BBM.....

We'll improve

We are going down. Changing the manager, tactics or dropping the current 11 won't help. The starting 11 plus Rubin, Ashford and Lawlor are the only guys that are anything like good enough. The season was ruined when we didn't get enough players in during the transfer window.

Yep, simply not good enough

We huff and puff and achieve nothing

Its expensive now to watch football and to be served up this rubbish is soul destroying

Guessing burnley fans saying same? Worse position than us 2 down today and bottom 3 playing lot worse than we are? At moment prefer our position to theirs. No team as devine right to be in championship ask Leicester?

There lies the problem, we don't score enough goals due to not bringing in a striker and we always look like we will concead, Bagan was to blame for the goal gave him far too much space at the back post.

This squad as it stands might. We are playing some nice football, lovely at times. We're just pretty sh!t in front of goal and always concede. We've had more shots that most in the league but we just can't convert.

I'm looking at this team and wondering whether they are capable of accumulating 50 points. Its looking unlikely.

And there is no point in placing any reliance on the next transfer window...so it's not looking good.

£31 for a ninian stand ticket vs Charlton is hardly what I’d call cheap

Re: This squad will get relegated.

Sat Sep 12, 2026 3:31 pm

Long way to go, guys!

I'd much rather be in the position we're in now, where we should probably have another 9 points at an absolute minimum, arguably 12 — than back in the Bulut or Riza days, when we'd get battered for 80 minutes and just hope to still be level so we could nick something at the end.

The biggest danger now is the players losing confidence and stopping playing the football that's got us into these positions. They must know how close they are to being a very good team.

For me, we should definitely bring in Rabbi. The whole place just needs a lift and some fresh energy, even if he's only on the bench against Charlton. Sometimes a new face and a bit of excitement can make a difference.

I just hope Salech's poor finishing is a temporary loss of form rather than the spell he had when we first signed him being a purple patch.

Personally, I'd rest him for the next game and see if it sparks a reaction. He can't keep missing the type of chances he's getting and expect to be guaranteed his place.

There's so much we're doing right. We just need to keep believing in the way we're playing and somehow find that bit of confidence and composure in front of goal.

Pretty easy start with fixtures and still can’t get a win, far harder games to come, no doubt more injuries….only going one way I reckon. You reap what you sow

Re: This squad will get relegated.

Sat Sep 12, 2026 4:46 pm

If we dont start taking our chances then yes, we will be relegated.

However, if we become more clinical in the final 3rd, with our possession stats and style of play we could also be safely a mid table verge of playoffs...

Had we not hit post on Tuesday as a many times as we did, would've been a 3/4 -1 win.
Today, Bolton looked dire and had we been more deadly we would've scored at least 2....

Goals will come, and as soon as we have some confidence, we will pick up points and climb. :ayatollah:

Speaking of clean sheets.

Last one? 11 games ago.
v Port Vale - 22 April this year, after we were promoted
v Bolton - 11 April this year, in a win that was surprisingly easy.

1 league win (Northampton) and 1 league cup win (Swindon) since then

My worry is the January window will cost the club more in transfer fees etc because everyone knows how desperate we’ll be,any forward thinking club signs 3 players before deadline day this squad ain’t good enough

Sadly matonda is not coming and if no others come we will again go with what we have ,
which will be burnt out with the lack of rotation

What not spending and we will be fucked, willock Tanner Turnbull chambers weren’t good enough 2 seasons ago so we’ve got to rely on them again which is also worrying in the championship

I dont believe we will be relegated there are comfortably 3 worse teams than us in this league

However if we are to ever push on in future seasons there has to be a change of owner , this club is run like an absolute joke my local pub team is run better than cardiff

They wont be bottom for long with their squad, too many good players but maybe they need to change manager.

I know its a worry, I know its not looking good, etc, etc but ffs get a grip!!

Surprising how couple defeats turn into longer run without win.. but like city expect them at some stage to get it right ! But still shows even with a very good squad success is not garaunteed!

Re: This squad will get relegated.

Sat Sep 12, 2026 8:31 pm

The big problem is at this level there doesn’t appear to be enough goals in this team. Tanner and Willock couldn’t hit a barn door, Salech looks massively short on confidence and Moylan hasn’t caught fire goal wise, so it’s really hard to see where the goals are going to come from.
With every passing day, it makes you realise what a catastrophic mess we made of the transfer window. Quite how the club thought going in with just Salech and Robinson would be ok, I don’t know!

Re: This squad will get relegated.

Sat Sep 12, 2026 9:03 pm

I have to say some of the football we play is so enjoyable to watch I am not as worried. Hopefully it will soon click and the goals will come with the wins.

It's obvious the squad isn't big enough but BBM must continue to be backed. There is no other manager we can realistically bring in that would do better with this squad.

If we go down so be it....I loved league one

£31 for a ninian stand ticket vs Charlton is hardly what I’d call cheap

Depends what you’re comparing it with?

I base my comment on being a long-standing season ticket holder, who occasionally goes to away games, the theatre, concerts, and other ‘entertainments

Not everyone can attend every game, so £31 is the going rate for casual supporters, and that’s on par with other comparable clubs and events at greater cost
