Manager Brian Barry-Murphy says Cardiff City are monitoring

Manager Brian Barry-Murphy says Cardiff City are monitoring the free-agent market as an injury-hit and winless Championship start has reduced the Irishman's options.

The Bluebirds' lack of depth has come under scrutiny with 15-year-old Noah Anyadike and 16-year-old Paul Moreno named on the bench against Stoke City in midweek.

Barry-Murphy insists both youngsters, however, have earned their places in the matchday squad.

"Those players were on the bench because they've done really well and they were deserving of it," he said.

"If we had signed more players, then maybe they wouldn't have been, but they are and I'm very pleased with them.

"There were very similar players in a similar position last season who've now become mainstays in the team. They all have to start somewhere

It’s not as simple as seeing a player and saying ‘come on in!’, and there will be reasons they are free agents (wages, injuries, age, attitudes, etc.), so BBM (and the club) need to be sure the players they might bring in are up to standard and/or affordability

Monitoring? He should know who is free. Some of these were released in June. If there are players who are available who are suitable they should be spoken to now before they go elsewhere. For gods sake i hope he is not leaving up to the clowns to identify them.

If we had a strong mobile striker where would we be now... Not in the relegation fight.

I know Chris always say its not like picking can off a shelf but he/club has had since July 1st to know what freebies are available cant he find one that suites his style to help us? Didn't do enough in window now same is happening in freebies market it appears..... what can he say if no one comes in Precisely what you've just said? Wears a bit thin after couple of times!
