BBM explains why Callum Robinson has had to wait for his chance

There’s been plenty of discussion among Cardiff City fans about Callum Robinson’s lack of minutes this season.

The 31-year-old has made just three appearances, all from the bench, and has only played 16 Championship minutes so far.

But Brian Barry-Murphy insists Robinson remains hugely important to his plans and explained why he hasn't seen more action.

BBM:

“Callum’s the best guy ever. We love him. We have a great relationship with him. He’s done brilliant for us.”

Against Stoke on Tuesday, he felt the team was in such a strong rhythm that wholesale changes weren't needed.

“I felt as if the team was in incredible rhythm and we were creating chance after chance with the players around the pitch. So I didn't feel as if we needed much change, really.”

And BBM acknowledges the obvious frustration for a player of Robinson's experience.

“Players like Callum, who’s been here and done it, you’d be desperate to play when he isn’t.”

“He wants to play. That’s obvious, but all the other players do.”

“In reference to Callum, he hasn’t had as much opportunity as the other players, so it’s understandable.”

We are not a team that’s struggling to score(5 out of 6 games)but we do have a good centre forward who is.struggling to score.Robinson deserves more minutes in my view.

100% Agree with you

That's why he has been mentioned because salec has been so poor.

Last season when salec was on form he never got a look in plain and simple
If salec was scoring and playing well Robinson would have been left on the bench the same as last season but it's got to the point where salec maybe dropped.

Always makes me laugh when managers say such things when in truth he does not rate him otherwise he would be playing regularly although he's good around the squad he's said before if bbm could offload him he would but wages are the stumbling block who would pay that , nobody really. Stoke were more or less camped on the edge of there box the other night for a whole half except the two breaks they had and nearly scored but trott saved one yet we didn't put more in the middle we kept playing the usually one byline to he other byline footbal and repeat although we created chances that's where Robinson would and should have been but didn't even come on :bluescarf:

He needs his chance, when it comes he will go for it, and hopefully he plays well, and scores a hat full of goals, we need our strikers in top form and he's not getting that sat on the bench.

It's just platitudes from BBM. Just bring Robbo on FFS! Give him 15 or 20 minutes if we need a goal, show the guy a bit of respect. His numbers are actually pretty good.

If Salech is firing blanks, then bring CR47 on, nothing to lose if he's fit and he is Championship quality.

I agree with BBM here we were purring Tuesday against Stoke when you are playing that well and creating chance after chance leave it alone, don't upset the balance. I felt one had to go in for us at some point.

He didn't really explain anything

All he said was he wants to play but so do the other boys

That doesn't answer why he was left out last season when Salech got injured either since non of the other boys are strikers

This just seems like a polite way of saying he doesn't rate him

Please, Robbo is worse than Salech, did you see him against Norwich reserves, that was his opportunity to show what he could do. Seems to be a nice bloke but he is not up to the level of this division. He has lost a yard of pace. I'd rather see Moylan up top.

I don’t think many of us think that’s anything but lies. It starting to be concerning the regulatory that we appear to being lied to.

The team was playing well against a poor stoke...but salach wasn't and should have been replaced. Salachs chance at the end would have been taken by cr47..bottom line 2 points lost

Pretty much every time BBM has given Robbo a start he's done nothing it's why we ended up with Kellyman upfront last year. Who's to say Robbo would have got into those positions to score in the first place. Salech is in a rut but be careful what you wish for

Other managers regularly said he’s the best finisher in the club, and I’m starting to believe that with some of our finishing haha
