Alex Robertson spoke to the press at Cardiff City Stadium to preview our trip to Bolton Wanderers on the weekend.


ALEX ROBERTSON:


"It's been a tough start in some regards, but I feel like we're adapting well." Alex began. "We're coming to life now a little bit. I thought we played pretty well in the first few games, but couldn't quite get the results over the line. Hopefully we can get that first win under the belt soon, and push on from there.

"Teams have principles, and I enjoy playing football our way. It's been moulded into the boys now - that's our style of play and that's how we're going to win games, like you saw last season. We've played some really good stuff, and the more we keep doing it we can just put it all into place and keep pushing on.

"Bolton are a good team. I know a few of the boys that play for them, and they've got some good players. We've got to try and stick to what we know and the way we play football, and I think we should be sweet."

The Australian international has moved into a deeper midfield role this season, and spoke about the different responsibilities that come with operating in that position.


ALEX ROBERTSON:



He said: "I've played everywhere in the midfield; that's kind of how I grew up playing football. I played deeper at Manchester City a little bit, so I've learnt how to adapt and adjust my game. I feel like now it's all coming together the older I get.



"As much as I love playing higher up and getting involved in the goals and assists, I do really enjoy starting the attacks. I feel like when I get the ball from the goalkeeper or the defenders, it's a bit of a puzzle to try and unlock their midfield or defence, to try and progress the attack. Every day in training we're working to get better, both physically, mentally and tactically, so it all comes together.

"There's more defensive stuff - that's one side of my game that I'm trying to work on a bit more. I feel like I'm doing okay at it. I played centre back towards the end of the Norwich game and I enjoyed it, to be fair! Everything is in front of you, which is pretty easy, but the defending side is a bit harder!"
