Ollie Tanner can beat his man time and time again during a game . He even beats two or three men ….then …..his crosses are most of the time total shit .
It is a problem for the manager to decide to play him or not . That is why most games he gets subbed .

He needs a rest id go with Ashford and moylan on the wings tuesday rubin in the 10 with Joel and Robertson behind him

My god not this again. The only issue with Tanner today was the header he missed.

He had a bad day today & could probably do with a rest but even when he does manage to get a good cross in or even just any cross nobody gets on the end of it. Salech isn't the answer either as he seems to have stopped even trying to get to the ball & he also needs a rest or a few days on a shrink's couch to get him through this & out the other end.

I say it every week our wing play is absolute garbage . The wingers main job is to put the ball in the box onto your strikes head or path . The ball is never anywhere near Salech , dont they talk to each other. ????

It's Pep ball the wingers job is to recycle the ball, get behind the full back and look for a cut back or to get our full back in on the overlap. We scored all those goals last year doing just that. We move the ball far too slowly to give wingers any chance to beat the man and put one Infront of Salech

I just don’t rate Tanner at this level and never have done.
We have two wingers, Tanner and Willock, who couldn’t make it in the Championship two seasons ago so why do people think they can do it now ?
Tanner seems to be able to do no wrong in some supporters eyes just because he scored against the Jacks !! He gives the ball away too much and does not deliver crosses to our CF.
It will be a struggle this season but time to look at other options out wide.

I think people like Tanner because he's willing to have a go at defenders and his stats where incredible last year, one goal against the Jacks come on.... but yes let's drop the person who takes people on, creates the most chances and is generally involved in most of our goals.... Again we've scored plenty (not today, admittedly because Tanner missed a sitter) we created enough again today, the issue is we're sucking 2 goals a game in but it's Tanner and Salech fault because we don't score 3

He is inconsistent but every game he is involved in a key moment Sheff Utd his run and shot led to our equaliser. Against QPR his pin point cross first half should have been buried by Ashford with a free header but he missed. Today he should have scored with his head. If he was more consistent he wouldnt play for us. After just 5 games give the lad some patience rather say his crosses all shit.

I don’t think we can knock Salech until he actually has a reasonable level of chances created for him.
As for Tanner, yes he had a good season last year …….. in Div 1.
Are his stats great for the relegation season in the Championship ? Spoiler ……. NO !!
Now I’m not a negative guy but sometimes you just have to call it out. If we’re relying on Tanner and Willock to create chances for Salech this season then it’s going to be a long and hard one, unless BBM can get replacements in January.
You are right in that with Fish, Lawlor and Chambers out we are woefully thin at CB hence the goals against. BBM, since he came here, has consistently said that he wanted quality over quantity and I get that but the Championship is brutal and sometimes you need numbers just to get through it. I hope we have enough to keep us relatively safe until January, but at the moment it looks a long way away sadly.

If we get a cross over, I dont think we have ever scored from a big striker heading ut in, we've scored more when a winger cuts in and shoot.
Jamie Vardy in his prime was great for going across the defender, similar to Moylan, Hoyland could be the answer up top.

The problem up top is clear:
1) Our wingers are not quick enough for this division, so they can't beat their markers
2) Salech has fallen off a cliff, I was there yesterday, his movement is poor and he's lost his physical edge.
I spoke to a few Pompey fans after the game and even they said "That striker is a big lump, but he's slow and does nothing with it. Salech was beaten in the air for their first goal, guy wanted it more.

No he wasn't that was Moylan
