Very simply and clearly Tan has imposed heavy restrictions on how much BBM can spend to buy players and how much he can spend on wages in total .

Our market is bargain basement .

BBM’s scope of who he can buy to improve the squad is severely restricted .


Furthermore , with a strictly controlled total players wages budget ….the total number of players is reduced ….which explains our relatively small squad .


Conclusion :


(1) Do not blame BBM for not signing more players both in terms of quality and quantity .


(2) Our ability to compete for promotion or playoffs is low . We are more likely to be in the bottom half than the top .



(3) Tan is of no use to CCFC and is now our biggest liability . He should do the honorable and right thing and sell (at a reasonable price).

I can't say I am surprised.
When you see what average teams like jacks and Wrexham have spent just to challenge for the play offs, it puts everything into perspective. We will have a battle to stay up with a small inexperienced squad unfortunately.

Annis, Tan has been no use and a liability to our club for years, if he had let go and sold to the South Africans last summer we would be in a totally place as far as ambition goes. In the mean time he has no intrest in the club, never attends games and expects/demands suscess on a shoestring budget, we have the best manager in many a year and the dictator is suffocating him.

I totally agree with that sentiment, and it certainly looks like the board have not backed the manager in the market at all.. but there are certain things in the lead up to the season which don't make much sense -

A. Tan invited BBM and his family to Malaysia before the start of pre season. Surely they would've spoken about the transfer budget for the upcoming season? If BBM wasn't happy about what he has to spend, then why did he sign a new contact? He could have had his pick of clubs over the summer.

B. If Tan lied to him and promised a budget and didn't deliver, why is BBM still here, and why did he come out openly and say the club have backed him in the market?

Personally I think it's a bit of both. BBM gave a list of targets that he wanted, the club wasn't able to deliver those targets, so he said fine I will make do with what we have because the alternatives aren't good enough to improve the squad, even though we clearly needed players as we are thin on the ground.

Managers while being paid will NEVER Spk out until they leave and have been paid in full.

I can answer b: "if tan lied to him why is he still here"

Because he signed a new contract,
It would mean he would have to buy his contract out to leave and now with the extension, it will cost BBM a lot more

I have just read your topic which is very much inline with my thinking on my topic
"The way I see it" it's all from above they agreed to fund moylan and Bielik as it was a very small amount in comparison to what BBM had on his list the big transfers where not going to be funded end of and BBM has said f.ck it i will go with what I have, which is going to hurt us but understandable at the time .

If bbm walks due to tans ineptitude, I can see me walking away again until hes gone

I didnt attend a game from the minute we went red until we returned to blue and I am willing to do it again if tan messes this opportunity up

We have one of the best young managers in british football and im 100% sure he will take us to the premier league if backed properly

We do not have a united fan base, organised enough to wage a prolonged protest against Tan & the board through the season.

Should our focus be solved on what we can do as fans, nothing looks like changing if we stay meak & mild.

Every Manager has a budget and choices to make, football even at Cardiff’s level is a corporate business these days.

We again, have not sold any of our key players, and BS… we could not, every time we play on Sky commentators rave about Rubin, talk about Salech and what a talent Dillon Lawler is etc.…

We went down and kept this group, and added them on new contracts as well as the Manager, we pay good wages at this level, too much in some cases. That is not a club who has no money, it’s a club who want to invest in what they have and not forced to sell as some are… we will sell no doubt if the price is right of course, but we don’t need to and no body has forced a move out… just signed new deals.

Most spending teams in the championship who have spent money, have sold players for millions to allow them to do so, and Wrexham, will spend big because they have a huge revenue from the US and media deals to do so, but they must go up, or it will eventually come back to bite them in the ass.. unsustainable over a long period.

Why do Cardiff think we are special and should be spending millions and losing more money each year, instead of doing what we are doing, keeping the talent we have and adding here and there..

We have this obsession with Tan and the board, we were all disappointed-on deadline day, if we wanted to sign some players within budget for the shake of it, we would have.

Good post but on the fan base we all know if things go bad this season there will be tan out chants from the stands and planned half turn up protests as always when it's good on the pitch then the past is swept under the carpet once things turn sour only then our fan base cry about it. As proven in the past 100%>

This subject has been didcussed multiple times in the past few seasons until you are 4eady to voice it in the stadium on matchday nothing will happen

Trouble is we got turnbull chambers and Robinson who are on top wages doing nothing and we can't ship out.
They would free up some money and we could fill those spots with players we need
