Are we going to post about Wintle every day?

An upgrade, someone a bit more mobile and energetic.
As it turns out that wasn’t the case as BBM should have a the replacement ready.
I really don’t understand his thinking on Wintle. It’s plain to see that Robertson isn’t a no.6 and it’s also plain to see that we need two DM’s away from home especially.
Bielik has stated he was brought in to play as a centre back but if this goes on BBM will have to change things and try him or Chambers there when he’s fit.
Rubin should play a deeper role also.

We've let him go for nothing and we haven't replaced him.
No other club would do that. We're an embarrassing laughing stock.
Let's not forget when we loaned Wintle to Blackpool when they were in the Championship, he helped get them to 5th in the league.
Wintle would have been better than no natural holding midfielder at all this season.
We will concede many more goals like QPR's second goal this season, where we leave ourselves wide open, with no holding midfielder with the natural instinct to anticipate and cover.
I'm wondering if we will ever manage to keep a clean sheet this season.

Quite nice to agree with you 100% wintle over robertson in "that" position anti day but that was done and dusted but last night showed robertson struggling he also gave the Sheffield goals away and I am not trying to make him a scape goat perhaps just playing out of position.

Wintle was meant to sign for Oxford. They got put in an embargo so he signed for MK Dons and was the best player on the pitch when MK Dons played Oxford first game.
I can’t believe Wintle would be that out of place in the championship. He excels a lot in league one.

He’s a lot better than league one but maybe not good enough for the championship.
Has he actually played a lot in the championship?

Wintle was part of the team that saved our season under Morison(returning from a loan). He initially played a role under Bulut (before being loaned out).
I don’t think the argument is whether Wintle was good enough for other championship squads. For me, the argument is whether Wintle was the best 6 available in our squad. I’d answer that Wintle in the 6, within this team is a more compatible solution than Robertson. Robertson was freed up last year to play higher up and create alongside Colwill and Kellyman. Pocketing a few goals along the way.
Wintle wasn’t in our relegated squad, yet we decide that he’s not good enough for this league whilst affording others who were in our relegated squad, the benefit of the doubt based on their success last year.
He’s gone. I accept that. I accept that BBM has a preference of size and athleticism in that role. But I find the reflections on his ability to be harsh considering the wider context.

Just a bit. A mere 150 games!! He along with NG and Robbo would have been our most experienced Chammpionship players. To listen to certain people on this forum you would think he had spent his entire career in the lower leagues. Trouble is if you repeat something enough times people will believe it. Admitedly I thought he was average with him for us in the Championship but given his form last year it was probably the role he was asked to play under previous managers. When he was on loan in the Championship at Blackpool he was their star player and their fans couldn't believe we had lent him out to them. They were gutted when we recalled him. In my opinion something happened between him and BBM towards the end of the season because he didnt play the last few games.

Lets look at the actual numbers.
Blackpool was 18 appearances, 0 goals, 0 assits with an average of 6.9/10. Good rep yes, star man... no.
Of the 155 championship appearances, only 44% were starts; so in 6 seasons he has less than 100 starts. Squad player numbers.
In fact, his 2 most prolific seasons were 2021/22 for us where he started 38 games, 0 goals, 1 assist and 6.91/10. And last season in L1 with 38 starts, 1 goal, 7 assits and a career high 7.35/10.
His loan to Championship Milwall 2024/25 resulted in 3 starts.
L1 player.
I cannot recall a single standout game in the Championship by Wintle. L1 there were many.

It was nothing pretty with him but his influence on the pitch last year was plain for all to see (and his peers seen it too - about as good as it gets that!).
Currently, who are we gonna play there if Robertson gets injured? Eli King?....oh wait, he's gone too. We'd struggle man - obviously the Polish defender will need to step up when our other CB's are back. He wasn't on a big wage, he may not of wanted an extra long contract either. We could really do with him now. It was a mistake to let him go.
BBM perhaps didn't like the 'joker' side of him I think, possibly a bit disruptive...and BBM is so serious. Clashed perhaps???
