BBM: “The players gave everything” 'It just didn't happen' -

Wed Sep 02, 2026 9:56 pm

BBM:

“To try to get back in to the game the players gave everything.”

'It just didn't happen' - reaction

Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy:

"Very disappointed, naturally. I didn't think we were at our best in the first half, we didn't quite have the level technically we normally have.

"But disappointed to concede when we did. Try as hard as we did in the second half, we couldn't get it back.

"We knew how dangerous they would be on the counter-attack. To play the way we want to play, you have to be good technically.

"In the first half our intensity wasn't where it would normally be and as such we gave the ball away in dangerous situations, and in the second half that continued.

"The players gave everything in the end to get back into it, but it just didn't happen.”

Sadly we are going to have these days where the team are just not at it and that was our best 11 so the only thing that can change is,
we start with the subs next game joe and Robinson davies and bench tanner salec Ashford, but that really is all we can do rearrange the chairs on the deck we have no other options unless we go into the academy this is where we are after the window closed.

Has he made any comments about our appalling transfer window yet?

Monty,

Willock, Tanner, Davies , Ashford etc etc were not good enough last time for The Championship and still not in my opinion

And Madness depending on just Salech

It’s going to be a very very long tough season.

They can give their ALL if your not good enough your not good enough

I’m sure others might read this differently. But that BBM interview.. head down, barely making eye contact, lack of energy. 4 games into the season, not a great sign.

I won’t read too much into it, we’ve just lost and he’s disappointed. But penny for his thoughts!

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but that press conference from BBM is a bit worrying.

Hopefully he’s just exhausted after giving everything to try and get a deal across the line, combined with the disappointment of tonight’s result, but he looks completely dejected and fed up.

Yes, it’s just after a loss, but I don’t remember him looking anything like this after other disappointing results. Even after the Lincoln defeat at home, he didn’t seem this deflated.

Could be absolutely nothing, but given everything that’s happened over the last couple of days, his body language certainly doesn’t fill me with confidence.

You've named all attacking players there, they are the ones doing the business we aren't struggling for a goal

I didn't read anything into BBMs demeanor other than he cares about his team and he was very disappointed. He was very similar when we lost last year, He played a straight bat to the transfer question and notably said ' I don't believe in bringing in players for the sake of it'.
BBM is spot on by saying our levels dropped last night. We gave the ball way countless times but that does not mean our players are not good enough. There is such a knee jerk reaction because our deadline day was disappointing, all of sudden we are crap and going down etc. We will have better days this season from this team.

Think people are just worried with lack of signings leaving our selves short?because for me we needed to add to the squad bbm says don’t wanna sign players for the sake of it but my worry is now he’s going to have use the likes of mafico and players like that who he was originally going to loan out because he’s not ready for this level

He looked absolutely destroyed to me.

We lost games last year but where always in a pretty good position. QPR completely overran us last night and 3 points from 4 games is obviously worrying, so if say it's pretty much the first time since he's been here we aren't in a good position, plus the transfer stuff

Yep - new territory.

To quote Graham Taylor, 'This is a real, real test'

We'll see what he's made of.
