The ball hits Harry Maguire's hands, he shoots and it deflects in off the Ipswich defender Jacob Greaves.

Because the shot from Maguire wasn't on target, VAR decide the goal can stand. But if the shot from Maguire was on target then it would have been disallowed.

I hate Manure but there is no way that was handball in the first place, it was a point blank hit & he wasn't moving out of the way but the final ruling once VAR decided it was handball makes no sense to me at all.

They make these silly rules,a handball is a handball in my eyes.

I hate Manure but there is no way that was handball in the first place, it was a point blank hit & he wasn't moving out of the way but the final ruling once VAR decided it was handball makes no sense to me at all.

Apparently the rule is that if it's the goalscorer that handballs it then the goal should be disallowed, whether the handball is deliberate or not.

Find it bizarre that the goal happened and was allowed because it hit Maguire's hand and then he shot with the deflection taking it in, but if it was Maguire's goal then it would have been ruled out.

Why don't they just say it's ruled out if it's the goalscorer or the player who assisted it that handballed, or better still get rid of the situation where it's handball even if not deliberate by the goalscorer?

Ifab rules are clear and thats why qas allowed... but the bigger question? was it deliberate handball If so obviously goal disallowed regardless of what happened next var deemed it accidental .. so ifab rule comes into play... whether agree with it is another matter... actually the rule applied is far more straightforward than most things to do with handball ..

I think they do need to look at changing the rules though, today's incident showed how ridiculous it can be.

It's like the Ipswich manager said, if Maguire's shot was slightly more accurate then it would have been disallowed. In a way Maguire has been rewarded for hitting a shot that was going wide.

Pathetic just use a bit of common sense if a goal omes about due to a hand ball it should be disallowed, they'd have found a reason to allow Henry's goal against Ireland if var was in play then.

Agree ned it should go back to any handball in area that directly results in goal should have it disallowed then cant have argument over deliberate or accidental as in this case ... to me it should been called deliberate because his hands were in unnatural position didn't need to protect his face as ball wasn't kicked at him! So while letter of law was followed in fact the handball decision was clearly wrong as many handball in middle of pitch get called for less contact than mguiers
