BBM : I gave an honest answer when I said I thought somebody

Thu Aug 27, 2026 7:35 am

BBM:

I gave an honest answer when I said I thought somebody would be in for this [Norwich] game.”

"But it hasn't been the case, so fingers crossed we bring in a few before the transfer deadline.”

When asked how busy he expects the club to be over the next few days, "hopefully very" was Barry-Murphy's response.

"The players we want to bring in are very clear to us, why we want to bring them in, so it's not an exhaustive list," he added.
"It's very specific to who we want to bring in

Despite his selection issues, Barry-Murphy insists he does not want to compromise on the club's transfertargets.

BBM:

"No, but I don't want to confuse that for not wanting to bring players in," he added.

"I think our supporters want to see people coming in and so do we.”

"We do want to bring people in, and we have people that we believe we can bring in, so we expect that."

He has his way of doing things and that's fine by me ,
personally we are on our 4th game and would have preferred earlier, but I am happy what has come so far,
most want a speedy winger and cover for salec if Robinson slows down any further he will stop.

Re: BBM : I gave an honest answer when I said I thought some

If Robinson is going to be used to cover Salech I don’t think he has the press in him. We would get the best out of him keeping him in and around the box, not chasing down defenders but just waiting for the pass or misplaced pass to latch onto and hit towards goal

If its not within 5yds away he tends to not bothered to much

To say Robbo doesn’t have the press in him is strange to me. He chased everything the other night.

Sadly that does not last, that was his first outing and was taken off after 60 mins in a little of games last season he had no interest as a sub and it showed when he came on his boots where lead lined sadly.

I think we'll sign a striker, because I agree that we need better than Robinson as back up.

Hopefully it'll be someone who can play both out wide and as a striker.

Are we going to get big or just loans ?
lots of clubs spending what we would call big charlton swansea 5 million on 1 player wrexham 8 million stoke 10 million ,
Not saying that we need to spend big but chances of getting a 10 million rated player for 1 million is not going to happen.
And before someone tells me it's getting the right players not the value,I am just saying the higher the value also the quality "usually" we have not gone mad on spending millions but I just there is some quality coming in over the next few days .

Wrexham obviously have more money than nearly everyone. Charlton I'm not sure about.

As I said months ago Monty, BBM has a very small budget and under Tan in Transfers, We won’t compete with the majority of the Championship.

Tan Honestly believes we can go up again with very little money in the Championship.

This Small squad thing is Def not working.

And many of our squad from last season in my view are not Top 10 Championship players

I see your points, but the fact is we’re shopping at Lidl not Sainsbury’s. However, on the loan market, we have advantages over many other (Championship) clubs, as we have a coach in BBM, who will play exactly the type of players the ‘big boys’ are looking to send out for experience

Notwithstanding someone’s criticism of his time at Rochdale and Leicester, he will have learned loads working with Pep’s youngsters, all of whom played in the same style regardless of what level they are at. After last season, clubs with players BBM wants are more likely to see him as a ‘safe pair of hands’ for their young players

I still see two, three or even four coming in, and don’t discount another defender amongst them, after BBM has seemingly prioritised defensive recruits due to the injury crisis affecting all senior central defenders and the Bluebirds are pulling out all the stops to secure up to four more signings before the 11pm deadline on Tuesday

We’ll see; but they have to be right for us, not just cash-collecting bench warmers :ayatollah:

I am happy with the manager 100% but I wonder why Mr Tan wants to shop in lidl when he could easily shop at Harrods using your analogy.

Many of the other championship clubs are splashing out millions on players who are not worth it

For example George Hirst who has signed for Stoke for 10 million pounds is a decent forward but not worth anywhere near that.

That is not to say that I would against Tan spending more.

But it has to be spent wisely which is something we have not done in the past

Have to look at it from a player's point of view.

Should I go to a club that's newly promoted or a club that has been consistently in the Championship for five or six years?

I think your overthinking it players aren't viewing us like Lincoln we've been in the championship forever. If Leicester come back up is anyone thinking I'm not going there that's a league one club

Leicester are different to us, been in the Champions League and won the Premier League in the last ten years. They were in the Premier League the season before last.

If I was a player, I wouldn't look at us as an established Championship club because we've just spent a season in League One and haven't been in the Premier League for a long time or even competed to be in the Premier League for a long time.

Also the likes of Stoke, Swansea, Middlesbrough, Charlton etc have had more seasons in the Premier League than us.

But the last few years before we got relegated (apart from the Bulut season) we were circling the drain of relegation. So a player will always prefer to go to a club that has a record of staying away from that area.

We'll agree to disagree on this though, I just think there are loads of clubs which are more attractive to players than us because of our recent history.

Re: BBM : I gave an honest answer when I said I thought some

Thu Aug 27, 2026 3:09 pm

We were but are no longer, an ‘established’ Championship club. We gave that title away the moment we dropped to League One. However, I think we can quickly re-establish ourselves in this division under BBM and just a little positivity from the owner

Re: BBM : I gave an honest answer when I said I thought some

Thu Aug 27, 2026 3:35 pm

Its not about established clubs that garauntees nothing! Think people are missing out on the one thing that makes this season different from all previous seasons? What clubs do players think have a better chance of playoffs than others? The 7th/8th place additional places are tempting clubs to spend more to get that extra bit quality that may mean playoffs... top 2 I feel will retaken by those clubs relegated from premier league as thats way thing have gone past couple of seasons? This is why its important bbm gets in the extra players we know we need to push for possible playoffs.....i
If its that easy to sighn players why have swans Wrexham just sighned players this week and not sighn them at beginning of window?

Let’s wait till the end of the Transfer market Tuesday night 11pm

Let’s see how we do as we all know and BBM knows we need good quality players

We’ve waited 3mths, I’m sure a few more days can’t hurt.

From day one we’ve all mainly known that this squad is not good enough for the Championship.

Exactly, judge it at the end of the window.

Then the usual people can find another way to criticise the other new players that come in, before they've even stepped on the pitch.

Unusually philosophical annis? Know something we don't? :laughing6:
But its right we've all known what's needed so does bbm! Teams still buying players even now so time for bbm to work his magic and get in few more decent players loans or buys..

Do you think it's fair for people to slate a signing before they've even played? Especially when it's mainly the same people who aren't happy about the lack of signings.

I have no doubt that everyone will support him, but I just found the reaction to yesterday's signing from some very disappointing.

No
I don' t think ifs fair to slate a new player before he has kicked a ball,
fans say things without thinking as deep as you, the lad is not a wonder signing i suppose they where expecting these top quality players which has been discussed for weeks.

I did not think scanlon was such a big deal but he has proved me wrong so this new lad if he stays fit is going to be solid and I am happy he osho chambers fish even lawlor will all have to fight for there places if your good at your job you stay there ,rotation is going to be the only thing that moves a player from his position long may he stay.

I would argue that we are also an "established Championship club" that happened to spend one season outside the Championship last year.

Apart from that one season we had been an established Championship team for decades (and two seasons in the top flight). I don't think one season in League 1 should affect that greatly.

A big deal was made of the fact that relegation to League 1 cost us in the region of £10m and cost cuts and savings had to be made accordingly.

I must admit that I had hoped that with that £10m we lost from being relegated being at least partly restored and with the changes in FFP meaning clubs could spend more, and with an exciting young manager playing entertaining football with a young squad, that a decent size budget would be available during this window.

Now, we may sign a couple of £5m or £6m players over the next few days but I think we probably all agree that's not going to happen.

Virtually all the talk currently is of loan players rather than permanent signings.

It honestly looks like we're now just looking to see what's available before the window closes.

We'll know in a few days time of course
