He is better in the close-quarters battle in the middle; a few of us on here have always maintained that this is his position. Some players love the space of the flanks and work better there; he isn't one of those.

Great improvement from him; we still need genuine wingers with pace

What's his strongest position? Im still unsure he's starting 11 myself.

His ideal position would be small striker playing directly off a big man. Teams don’t play that way anymore, much better centrally. Back in the day I think he would score 20 goals in the big man small man in a old school 442.

Ashford as 10, Ruben or Moylan at 8 and Robertson at 6 seems to work and suits Ashford. He had really good games against Wrexham and Derby.

BBM has developed players that can play in a few different places but I'm favouring this one so far.

I think he’s playing well at the moment

As well as he seems to be playing I don't think he'll get much of a run in the middle of the park. I'm guessing a 6 will be brought in Robertson will shift up then you've got Rubin, Moylan, Robertson and Ashford competing for 2 spots as well as Joel trying to break into the team. Very tough competition in midfield. I think he'd suit the Chopra/Earnie style striker role but unfortunatey those days have gone
