Asked whether anything was close and whether Cardiff could soon be in a position to announce more additions, he said: "No, I don't think that's the case.”

"I just want to get the players fit and healthy as soon as we can, and obviously continue with our strategy in a calm and precise manner to improve the squad.”


Barry-Murphy also made clear that Cardiff are not simply looking to add bodies for the sake of it, particularly when it comes to loan deals with fans calling for another centre-back signing in light of all the injury news.

"I think we have to be specific and genuine and have real integrity and honesty with players we're looking to bring in," he said.

"If you bring in a loan player for the sake of it to have an extra number... and then in six -8 weeks' time when Will Fish is back, or however long, and all our players are back and he's just cast aside and we don't use him ever again, really you can be sure that the parent club who sent him in won't send you another player ever again.”

Cannot believe this is my 1 beef with murphy, you want and need players in but then you don' t,?

we need a bigger squad for the championship with injuries we are stretched now in our first game of the season ,
and fish etc is out for months we cannot go for months with a threadbare squad and a bunch of kids on the bench from the academy making up numbers.

And if murphy thinks our answer to cover and quote fully recognised for salec is issac davies ,he is loosing the plot.

We need more but he makes very good points, no point just signing anybody who doesn’t fit our system and style. In that case you’re better off with using youth for depth.

And again he’s right with the loans, why risk damaging future relationships with other clubs?

Cardiff fans are just used to the past, where signing anybody was quick and easy, that’s because we didn’t have an identity. Look how that’s damaged us. Last 2-3 seasons, fans complimented signings because they don’t really understand how they fit or not with how we played (which nobody knew, including the managers). It’s been a result of disjointed and disappointing seasons.

I'd say recruitment over a long period of time was what sent us down. Riza was just a bad manager. We signed people just to please the fans with no real plan. The Ramsey signing probably being the worst of the lot. It's a moot point anyway BBM will do his own thing just as he did last January. There'll be lots of people on here pulling their hair out and we'll end up with a good team anyway

why some posters keep saying the same thing ,who is saying just sign anyone? I have not met a city fan yet who has said sign just anyone or on this forum.

Apparently it is rocket science, because you want another CB to come in when we realistically will only be short for about 3 weeks. He needs to be top quality, cheap and available yesterday.

Also we have spent 2 mill on transfers hardly bank busting so a quality cb is prudent
