BBM: We are looking to sign another striker

Thu Aug 20, 2026 10:37 am

BBM:

"Roko Simic leaving on loan makes no difference to our transfer plans. The plan is in place based on the fact that Roko will be going on loan.

Like I said previously, that's an area of the pitch, like all the others, that we're looking to improve.

We also see Isaak Davies very much as a striker, and so does he - he told me!

But I haven't played him a lot there just because Yousef and Omari [Kellyman] played ahead of him as well, and there was a spell after the Rotherham game when he was injured badly.

It was probably the window where he was going to play as a striker. At that moment, unfortunately, he wasn't fit.

But we still think he's potentially a very high-level striker. But I just haven't played him there enough yet to show it.

He's had to learn his wing craft as well. I think he played all his junior football as a striker as well.

So he's certainly entrusted with senior football as a winger. He's had to learn very quickly.

Paddy Deboys (head of recruitment) and his team have been working really hard for the past couple of months.

I'm appreciative of how calm they've remained and sticking to the plan that we had in place.

Obviously, when things come around that we want, then it's important that we try and get it done. But the timescales are impossible to predict."

I think Paddy Deboys and his team should be contract based as opposed to being on full time wages. It would save the club a lot of money.

Leaving signings this late, what's the point in them being in the building anytime before August? Just get them in for mid August, let them compile their list of targets based on our grand plan, 2 weeks later, window closes, we've got our 1 player in and cheerio, everybodies happy. We'll possibly give you a shout mid Jan boys.

What a strange and bizarre window indeed. There is no concern or anger left here, only bewilderment - based on all the threads on here over the last hour.

Don't wish to be pedantic but the title of the thread is slightly misleading.

Nowhere in that quote does it say we're looking to sign another striker. In fact it doesn't say that we're currently looking to sign anybody. In fact he talks about using Isaak Davies as a striker!

All he says is that he's looking to improve all areas of the pitch.

Doesn't necessarily mean he's planning to do that with new players.

I think that's a clear comment that he's looking to sign a striker.

Certainly no more misleading than other threads by other people.

Personally I think the fact that he says that he sees Isaak Davies "very much as a striker" when he's hardly ever (if ever) played him in that position suggests that he's not looking to sign a striker.

I guess we'll see in the next 10 days!

You mean very misleading as he does not say it? Worcestershire is obsessed with misleading us to suit his agenda.

Absolute bullshit.

I don't put fake news out or fake quotes. I put a headline which reflected what he said, "that's an area of the pitch we are looking to improve."

Nobody goes after Annis for saying "Isaak Davies will be one of our main strikers" (no different to this title) or when Monty said BBM is taking a back seat on transfers.

The reason people go after me is they want to silence someone who doesn't follow the crowd and is positive.

Well it won't work - I'll keep doing my thing, regardless of people trying to silence me.

He has said previously he wants to sign a Striker in fairness.

BBM is evasive in press conferences with regards to signings, you have to read beteween the lines.

He's hinted a few times he wants a differnt option upfront to Salech.

I think they are trying to get one in on loan.
