BBM: Rubin is a huge figure for us

Tue Aug 18, 2026 8:05 am

BBM:

"I thought he had a big impact on a big game.

"He's only trained for two days really, so I probably shouldn't have put him on as early as I did.

"But the way the game was going, I felt as if we needed a bit of something different and he can do that from deep, so we just take it day by day with him and see how he is.

"He's an impeccable professional, loves the game, loves the club, so he's a huge figure for us here, I can't deny that.

"He just needs to find some rhythm and volume in his training because he hasn't done a lot, so we can't rush him back because that would just put him at risk for no reason."

I thought he looked superb dropping to pick up the ball and driving us forward. Time to look at him as an 8 or even a 6? Potentially frees up Moylan for the 10 role then.

Don’t see him as a 6 but he’s definitely looking like a great option as an 8. He can definitely pick up up the ball and drive it forward and help create chances.

Said before last season he needs to be looked at as an 8.

Said this in the other thread, he can play there if we are chasing the game to spread the ball around. If the score is 0-0 or we are leading though we need someone with a bit of bite and that just ain't Rubin
