It’s understood the Dutch club have left the 27-year-old out of their squad to face Feyenoord today due to the transfer interest.

Talks are not believed to be advanced just yet, but the club do not want to risk Meulensteen getting injured and losing out on a big fee.

6"1 or 6"2 depending on which website you check him out on. Like the sound of that, will bring some much needed physicality to the midfield.

Has scored some beauties from distance too in the Dutch league.

Fingers crossed on this one...assuming it's true. A more experienced Dahl perhaps.

More than a few to be fair.It was 9 nine years ago when he was 18. Since then he has played most of his career in the Dutch top league and played 8 games for Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League last year including their victory over eventual winners Aston Villa. I -like most people - had never heard of him before today so cant comment beyond that. I would be surprised if we were willing to splash out a lot on him and as he has quite a bit of his contract left GAE wont let him go cheaply if he is any good. Interesting development though.

A Dutch journalist Tijman van Wissing who seems to be a very dependable source on Go Ahead Eagles said on his Facebook today about Melle Meulensteen

"Cardiff City has not yet made contact with #gae The club from Deventer is of course also not intending to let one of the most important candidates go."

He also said that Meulensteen missed the game today against Feyenoord because of injury.

Seems like another bluff to me just like the Norwegian lad. Can’t really see this happening But would be a good fit if he did. I guess we can only live in hope?
