BBM : “ DYLAN LAWLOR “

Sun Aug 09, 2026 4:41 pm

Cardiff boss Brian Barry-Murphy says there is currently no clear indication when West Ham target Dylan Lawlor will return.

"Dylan doesn't know when he's going to be back. Hard to put a timescale on that.”

“He’s missed all of pre-season and when he’s ready he will have a lot of catching up to do.”

Lawlor was in and out last season through injury and all Summer he’s been injured.

West Ham fans are saying that’s why their club never took it any further.

Maybe Tan was expecting to get £10mill this Summer for him and of course that never was going to happen with his continued injuries .

Bit concerned what the starting line up will be for our first league game injuries cropping up all over the place now.
Doesn't look too promising on the transfer front either atm.

He's only 20 and everyone is wanting him out because he's injury prone.

He's been thrust into the first team and Wales team last year at 19 played 24 games for us and 6 for Wales. We know young players get injuries as they develop.

Some of our fans need to get a grip.

The lad needs to develop with us, become a better all round experienced player .

As a defender he will get loads of practice with us this year .

With WHU he will see a lot of bench time which will restrict his development and harm his Welsh appearances.

Give him a massive contract, then we will see good value if someone wants him .

Its like investing in shares those who speculate accumulate lets speculate and increase Dylan's value.

Agreed. These injuries can happen when they're this young.

This talk about cashing in is rubbish and coming from the same people that would complain the loudest if we did sell him.

To be fair, it's not just modern players injury prone. I remember Phil Dwyer missing 3 games in 13 years

Top young players go that extra mile and suffer more injuries: Giggs, Bale, Rambo, even Colwill (not a top player yet but goes that extra mile and plays with knocks). They eventually settle down and get a better run, then miss most of their final three or four seasons due to persistent recurring injuries.

I’ve not said he’s made of glass?

But going on by last season and this he is looking like he’s injury prone yes or no?

It’s a blessing really, if he was fully fit, could be a chance we lose him before the window.

Having Lawlor for this season is a big plus, just need him to stay fit once he gets fit.

I'd agree completely, but I reckon he started 30 games plus another 5 as sub.
