MY VIEW TODAY : AS STRIKER SALECH SCORES A DOUBLE & MOYLAN SCORES ON HIS DEBUT:

Cardiff went through to the next round after a very tricky match, but def deserved their win.

This was the best run out for Cardiff so far as Swindon were really up for it.

I do worry about our defence?

League 2 / Div 4 Swindon

Round 2 Here Comes the Bluebirds

1st round of the League Cup

FIRST-HALF: Over all City truly deserved their 2-1 lead

Early pressure from Swindon paid off as a shot deflected of Osho in the 9th minute, Own Goal 0-1

27th min, hand ball Swindon , Penalty Yes Salech 1-1

43mins Lovely cross from @CianAshford, fired in by our already in-form number 9 Salech 2-1

SECOND-HALF:

Nothing bewteen for the first 12mins

57mins - Double change for City: Joel Colwill and Chris Willock replace David Turnbull and Isaak Davies. (2-1)

Then Swindon brought on their Summer Sugnings

62mins I’ve looked at it 3 times terrible defending by Cardiff.
Swindon Town sliced Cardiff right open and made it 2-2
Ng should of got to it.

71min Moylan City new signing replaced Tanner

76mins Great pass by Salech and a Superb finish by Moylan 3-2

79 min Swindon hit the post

City deserved this win

But Swindon did pressurise Cardiff to the end and had a player sent off

CARDIFF CITY 3 SWINDON TOWN 2

H-T 2-1

Job done.

Started slowly but improved. Felt like a friendly at times.

Good for Salech to start the season with a couple of goals and a great first goal for Moylan.

Playing a double pivot without a proper number 6 leaves us very open once they beat the first press , we were quite exposed at times through the middle today and a better quality team would punish us

Robertson is quality but he was left 2 vs 1 on multiple occasions today something that didn't happen often last season when wintle was sat in there with him

A natural defensive minded number 6 has to be a priority in my opinion

When we didn't renew Wintle I was very concerned about this, but also positive the club must have an upgrade waiting in the wings.

The lack of transfer activity in this area so far has left me my extremely concerned. We need someone with much more physicality than Robertson and Turnbull.

Win is a win, extra minute's, for everyone involved, great to see new signing Moylan come on and score, first signs were good, wants to get involved, we are the only Welsh club left in, that's good for the players that's not having regular game time.
Fingers crossed next game against Wrexham will be positive.

No replacement for wintle big big problem
Osho bringing the ball out instead of giving to midfielder potential disaster
Central Midfield all over the place.
and no back up striker
Defence looks fine
Wingers are fine
So need defensive midfielder and Striker.

It’ll be interesting if Davies stays injury free, didn’t stand out yesterday but put a shift in without breaking which was good to see

I personally thought he did nothing yesterday.

A great Sub.

Ollie tanner was terrible, how he is a pro footballer I don’t know, he was so lazy yesterday.

We def need a winger.

Ashford I thought was really good. Created a lot for us.

Defence a worry, not convinced by kapakio. But players to come back.

We will move up a gear next week for sure.

Robertson showed why he missed the Aussie team , he is simply not consistent, prone to.losing the ball in key areas ,wayward passing etc.

We lack direct penetrative attacks into the box .

Tanner didn’t look fit.

When the ball was crossed into penalty area no one was attacking the box .

Defence other than Bagan were appalling.

It was too easy to run through us, as it was last year .

No threat in the opposition box from dead balls.

We play like that against Wrexham they will do us.

Dread to think what this place would be like if we'd done what Bristol City did, and lost at home to League Two.
