Interesting as Tromso did not even accept Cardiff’s bid???
So what really was it?
The player never even spoke to Cardiff
Hmmmmmm???
Jens Hjertø-Dahl has arrived at Manchester airport this morning ahead of completing his £7 Mill including add ons move to Hull City.
Tromso will receive approx £5Mill with Jens earning approx £2Mill plus bonuses.
Tromsø starlet Jens Hjertø-Dahl has spoken for the first time about his move to Hull City , as they look to wrap up a deal in the next 24 hours.
The midfielder has acknowledged the interest they had shown him, saying he was 'flattered' by the Tigers' overtures.
Hjertø-Dahl has emerged as one of Norway's top young talents, and City are understood to have gone to Norway personally and persuaded Jens to sign for them.
A former coach at Tromsø, Steinar Nilsen, even likened the 20-year-old to England star Jude Bellingham, suggesting he was 'reminiscent' of the Real Madrid playmaker, such is the regard he's held in.

I said as soon as Hull were linked that it was probably us out of it. Premier League football the big factor there. Even if they go down, he can stay in the Premier League if he does well individually.
I'm sure we have other targets but glad we were ambitious.

I sometimes wonder, we never actually spoke to him personally and agents put players out there.
The rumours and media here said The Norwegians wanted more money???, but it looks like the player found the club he wanted and was probably because they are Premiership and went fully out of their way to get him.
Plus we have not sold anyone for a Big Fee and are still offloading first.

This is massively disappointing, as he would have been better coming here to develop under BBM, rather than a sure-to-be struggling Premier League Hull City
I freely admit the flight situation on Sunday had me thinking he was coming here after other information was also provided, but it didn't work out in the end
I don’t know the thoughts of the player himself but there were no indications he really ‘
wanted’ to come here
The club and BBM will have a ‘plan’ and will now move on, so hopefully we can expect player announcements in the coming days

This is OUR club, not Vincent Tan’s! He is a temporary custodian and will be judged on the state he leaves us in when he leaves!

Chris,
Your right the player never showed us interest at all and Cardiff never personally went to see him.
I totally agree, he would have been better off staring here with us and improving under BBM.

Are we sure we were even in for him I thought someone on the site stated they talked to him over in Ireland about this guy and BBM was surprised by the speculation Now i know he might have been keeping his cards close to his chest But he seemed to imply that we were not after him

I think it was reasonable for people to think he was on the plane to Cardiff, but just turned out to be a huge coincidence.
Can't begrudge him a move to the PL Chris.
Like you, I am sure we have other targets and there's plenty of time to go.
Just want this month to end so everyone (me included) can stop going on about transfers or fake rumours.

A right balls up to give other clubs we might be negotiating with the idea that we were willing to spend £7m on someone

The players, the agent and the club waited and followed the money. No surprise in that.
Also, of course he chose a Premiership club which most would.

If he’s been told he’ll have a part to play at Hull (which I assume he will based on the other signings they’ve made) then can’t really begrudge him going.
We all think BBM is class but it’s not like a Bielsa or someone where he has a reputation across football, I don’t think he’s actually a draw to this type of player.

The only benefit for Dahl choosing Hull over us is that he'll be living nearer to his family in Norway lol

It's funny how football works out.
Hull only got into the playoffs because their offside goal was given.
The linesman missing the clear offside goal has resulted in Hull winning the playoffs, getting to the Premier League and possibly gazumping us to this player.

Yes! Our record of signing players from Norway has been really bad. I think the standard of the Norwegian league is not as strong as we are led to believe.
Sure, he is going to Premier League team but he is also going to have to live in Hull - good luck on that part.
And of course the agent got involved - they are the scourge of modern football. Also, if we had signed him would it have meant upsetting our established younger players who would have been playing with someone who was on considerably more money than themselves.

With respect, you’ve never thought the club/BBM ‘
had a plan’
We have been told (not all by you) that there is no backing, no money, players have to be sold at the first opportunity and cheaply, and that the season is already lost because there were no signings by the end of the first week of the transfer window
In my positive mode, I still think we will bring a few players in and we will do ‘
okay’ this season but maybe not the play-offs
I live in hope on the latter, though!

At the end of the day we could have offered £25 million and if he wanted to go to a Premier side offering £10 million then that is where he would be going. Of course we all think we would have been a better choice but it gets to the point where we're better off with players who actually want to be here, even if they cost a lot less.
Support the team, not the regime.
