WHO IS DEALING WITH OUR TRANSFERS ?

Sun Aug 02, 2026 6:06 pm

BBM has said he is concentrating and focused on the team tactics etc, he is leaving the recruitment in the background?
So who is going to bring in our 5 players we need.

Looks like we have lost our main Norwegian target to replace wintle.

I did say last week I would have thought just what bbm said, he is concentrating on the team not tied up with transfer deals

But that begs the question who is.?

I hope it's not the usual.

Patrick Deboys heavily involved I imagine and will have a list of players that the manager wants, with Ken Choo doing the executive stuff.

Chris, I thought our transfer committee had, for all intentions, been broken up and rebuilt.

Choo, if things are to be believed, has zero negotiating skills when it comes to football.

This week will be key. Will we get signings, and will BBM have had significant input into their arrival.

I am hoping weve learnt lessons, but one good season and the junta seem to think they are miracle workers....

Ned
Let's hope the deboys knows his stuff and is not wet behind the ears he has a very important job to do,
and if choo was involved with the Norwegian guy we did not have much going for us.

Jonny
I despair if it's all down to choo and dalhman the biggest clowns in football,
most fans know we need 5 new players in ,nothing as yet friendlies finished , and considering we finished last season in April we are weaker than last season SO FAR. Fingers crossed hey.

I take it the club are going the Moneyball route of recruitment.

Decoys is an analyst with no boots on the ground experience.

Monty bbm brought in someone to do recruitment so whilst tan is involved that is because he pays the fee... he committee is probably defunct if believe what bbm says about tan.... unfortunately all we can do is trust in bbm in what he's doing regarding players coming in

Executive stuff should be getting contracts sorted getting players is not down to the committee think that's obvious if take what bbm says as true... got to remember no club would go for player if price is to high no matter what bbm wants (unless truly worth it ) if got new recruiter can only assume he knows what he's doing and won't recommend if price is to high either

Monty we did have the so called famous Transfer Committee

Who were Clueless.

For the first time in years Our Own Manager BBM and his own group are the ones making the decisions on the players. BUT of course as long as it’s not Costing Our Hierarchy much as it’s a low Budget for The Championship.

As jonny said,
we thought the
" Famous transfer committee"
had been dismantled,

I know bbm has a list but his comment i found disturbing that was all.

Thanks ned! Whilst like most not impressed by Ken or dalman got to remember they are the executives of club and as such things like transfers must go through them either that or tan... days of manger having total control are long gone

I don't know where you've got it into your head that it'll be "bargain basement". We bid £6.2m for Hjerto-Dahl and it looks like we're signing Moylan for £2m.

Also we spent a fee plus wages on Osho and Trott, as well as the wages for loan players.

There is nothing to suggest we're doing it on the cheap this season. Signings will come (a couple this week apparently) and as I've said, if we have to wait until the end of the window to get the right players then so be it. The season doesn't end after the Wrexham game.

I much prefer this to what the club did before this manager and sign a whole load of free transfers every summer that we struggle to move on.

Ned it was a general statement these days transfer fees 1 million is bargain basement when west ham recently sold to spurs a player 85 million ,yes 6.5 million is more in the region of a fair price in today's market but when did we last offer that sort of money, and what I was getting at is why do fans worry if tan wants to spend 10 million on a player it's not my money and I am glad he tan realises that you have to pay the higher price to get your man, and a bidding war with other clubs is the norm sadly.

It's not just Tan's money though, the club have to operate within the financial rules. Don't want us to overspend and then have problems further down the road. A couple of clubs in the EFL aren't allowed to spend fees on anyone in this window because of that.

There was a thread the other day that said Wrexham spent £50m last summer and will spend £25m this summer. No way would I want us to spend £75m over two summer windows in the Championship.

Agree about bargain basement its not way forward but can think of lots of big money sighnings that was total waste of money and bargain basement probably a better buy than them? .....fancy paying 8m for cornelious when was valued at 500k season before ! :laughing6:
