CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

Wed Jul 29, 2026 4:59 pm

Just wandering what fans views are ,also bbm's on this,
chambers turned out pretty steady in most games after a tricky start but there is a big difference in league 1 to the championship,
and he got caught out with speed it was his achillies heal .

Last season and in the championship i think he would struggle and he is taking up a space for any incoming.

Robinson

Great heart, but bbm would hardly play him last season,
his work rate could be non existant and sad to say his speed has gone completely, if the ball is not within 5 yds of him, he is not in the game again is he taking up space for incoming.

Chambers Robinson are they worth keeping? taking up space on the bench, and both are on i would think big wages,
its a dilemma for bbm but he had no issue letting wintle our player of the season go, and we know he likes the younger players.

No sentiment in football I’m afraid Monty, there were a few occasions last season when both were found wanting re pace. Great attitude but it’s a ‘get rid’ for me.

Your right about setiment the other issue that no doubt someone will mention is,
they are under contract and who would want them, but wintle went easily maybe his contract was up, but I would imagine any team in league 1 would take either of these 2

I doubt anyone would want them at their current pay rate so I doubt they're going anywhere until their contracts are up but if by some miracle someone is willing to pay them the same then let them leave on a free as it's very doubtful either would go anywhere for less money.

Obviously we can't just "get rid" of either of them.

What sometimes happens is that we offload and pay part of the wages at next club.

Id keep Chambers as he’s a great squad player who can fill in with an injury or suspension unless he plans to bring in another centre half as we need four in my opinion.

I’d get rid of Robinson at a stroke if it can be done in a fairly financially secure way.
But there’s the problem, it’s unlikely he’ll want to move with wages he’s on and at his age.

Re: CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

I would keep Chambers but move on Robinson personally. I think Chambers was a good captain for us last season. He started slowly, but actually came up with some big moments. The alternative view to him is that his wages are way too high for what he offers.

Robinson probably could score goals in the Championship but he's just not a BBM player. He barely got many chances to play in League One and won't in the Championship.

In reality, I doubt either will leave this summer because I can't see another club taking on their wages.

Agree pay part wages and loan them if they don't t get picked they will want away

Re: CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

I'd personally like to see Robbo stay. I probably have a positive bias towards him for a few reasons, but generally speaking:

I think we'd be hard pressed to find another striker who's happy to play second fiddle to Salech over the course of a season, especially one who can match Robbo's return of 44 goals and assists in 130 appearances for us. Many of those contributions have come off the bench too.

Striker fees can be inflated, and we could easily spend millions on someone who never settles or finds the back of the net. We've seen that happen more than once in recent years.

Having someone with Robbo's experience, professionalism and ability in the dressing room, while also being able to call on him from the bench when needed, feels like a real asset to me

I understand calls that say he’s lost his pace, but his positioning in the box to poach goals or assist can be quality at times

No dilemma here I'm sure BBM would get rid of both in a heartbeat if he could. Neither are going anywhere until their contracts are up though

It probably depends on who we bring in but as it stands I'd defo keep chambers as he can also play at no. 6 as well as CB and his experience could be crucial.

Robo I'm 60/40 on. He carried an injury through most of last season and his enthusiasm and love for Cardiff is unquestionable as far as I'm concerned. If fully fit then yes he can do a good job for us, but we defo need to buy another striker.

Just for you sir.

Re: CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

I think it’s important to separate the costs of the players. From their attitude, skills they bring and the fact they signed contracts in good faith. We weren’t coerced to offering them. Whilst I suspect that if BBM could offload them he could fundamentally they both got excellent attitudes and are very good role models to the younger players and I do believe they give their All when they do play even if they may well have a few errors in them, particularly with Chambers I think as long as they’re with us they will both give 100% and I think realistically given the size of their contracts and their ages it’s unlikely will get rid of them anytime soon. so I think we have two very good albeit expensive experienced squad players, that won’t let us down and are perfectly capable of doing a good job in the championship

I would keep for 1 more season they hae experience and seem popular with the other players that can vital to our younger players especially the ones who have not played in the championship.

I still think there is few goals in Robbo

Re: CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

Wed Jul 29, 2026 7:15 pm

Both seem like good professionals and I think both are good for the dressing room.

However, I'd put Chambers as 4th choice centre back currently and Robinson as 2nd choice striker. In the hope we strengthen both those areas, they drop to 5th and 3rd choice. You could make a play for having/needing 3 strikers in any squad coz its such an important position - so possibly a place there for Robbo. You defo don't need 5 centre backs though. That's one hell of an expensive wage to cover (possibly 30k plus a week, 1.5m a year!!!). I'd really try and pay Chambers off. Doubt he'd be happy with sitting on the sidelines either. Heartless given his CV but he's so slow, hesitant and cumbersome - everything BBM doesn't want in a centre back.

Robbos a good experienced head to have around the changing room. He's happy to help the youngsters and be there when called upon
Really does love cardiff

At this time they both need to stay as it looks like no one is coming in - More chance of rain coming in before season starts .

Keep them both no doubt in my mind. They offer so much more than just pitch time they are exactly what our young squad need. Especially Robinson, you can see all the young kids look up to him and he loves it when they succeed, both in my eyes played massive parts in the younger players development last season, and I’m sure Murphy appreciates it, they make his job easier.

Re: CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

We lack experience and so no brainer for me, keep them both.

Re: CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

Much too slow

Have to go in my opinion but again dependant on whether we bring anyone in

Re: CHAMBERS & ROBINSON STAY OR GO.

Thu Jul 30, 2026 12:42 pm

I don’t have a problem with either/both staying for next season, as they both have good things to offer

Sadly, despite their injury issues last season, I think certain people have written them off, despite both playing a part in sealing promotion last season

It seems,a lot are happy for them to stay but surprised nobody much said anything about wintle going who I i thought was far better than both Chambers & Robinson ,but that's why i asked to see what the fans though of them staying or going.

Wintle came as a bit of a shock to most City fans including myself.

BBMs thinking was that he wanted someone more dynamic and quicker which I can definitely see.

It was suggested there was stuff going on behind the scenes with Wintle; and not for the first time. He was loaned out twice before, if you recall?

Robinson had his moments in the past but was a big factor in the squad last season, despite carrying an injury, whilst Chambers played his part as a player and as club captain

Well if they stay obviously they will get full support as with all the players on a personal level I really hope Ashford pushes on this season lacks a bit if confidence which he will need in the championship we need to play without fear " of" the championship .

Trust BBM, they stay if they offer more than Wintle on and off the pitch, he runs a tight ship and is ruthless; if they don't add value, they will be gone.

The fact they are still here tells us they are good lads, and positive influences in and around the dressing room.

They both come across as genuine and very positive in every interview I've seen. We need to read between the lines and have faith in the Manager and his judgement of players.

I trust his judgement but wintle does surely have some credit for player of the season and I seem to remember Robinson had bouts of disruption on and off the field but I thunk he has accepted where he is now.

We await this new replacement if he can leave his Norwegian boyhood club.
