The future career of Rob Tankiewicz vs Axel Donczew

We’ve got two proper benchmarks here for the "stay vs go" debate in youth football.

Tankiewicz staying to push for men's football versus Axel taking the move to a top academy. It’ll be really interesting to track their progress and see where they both are in 1, 3, and 5 years. Do senior minutes early beat category-one development in the long run?

You could throw in Lawlor too as a successful stay and fight for early minutes at his safe home, long-term environment under BBM, which for me is the main factor for staying at the current time.

I'd imagine Arsenal will loan out Axel pretty soon. Then if he progresses he'll get sold for a profit.

Totally agree. Understandable to a point, but its possible Axel's parents were sold the dream and the pound signs. He's a young lad and it may turn out to be too much, too soon, unlike Rambo, who 3 years older when he moved there.

I suspect he'll be swallowed up with many other young talents in the Arsenal machine and end up loaned out to Scunthorpe or lower in due course.

I genuinely expect Tank to make more significant progress in his career by staying at City.

Like Charlie Crew that went to Leeds and others No first team appearances (that i know of) no full caps. Unlike RC JC and Lawler as examples plenty of 1st team games already under there belt and full international caps. I get the money thing but its nice to look back on your career and people remember you and what you achieved in your career.

Not saying the lad wont go onto great things and i wish him well he has plenty of time on his side but for me i would have stayed and established myself in the Cardiff first team better chance of international recognition.

With the money in PL football and the fees they are paying there's not many youngsters that make the breakthrough. Times have changed since Ramsey went there.

First two years achieved nothing

Two years running loaned out to Doncaster Rovers 13 appearances and 7 appearances

Now 4 yrs later Aged 20

In fairness to Charlie Crew, and Gabriele Biancheri, they couldn’t see that they would get opportunities under previous managers. I don’t blame them for buggering off. Get no opportunities at Cardiff or get no opportunities at Leeds or Man U whilst getting better money? I know what I’d choose.

Think Axel’s decision is a bit short sighted though
