It’s being reported that new Prime Minister

Andy Burnham is actively considering letting football fans drink in the stands again.

A government spokesperson said: “We are considering the case being made by some clubs and supporter groups for reviewing the current restrictions on alcohol consumption at football matches.”

It comes just weeks after the new Prime Minister said it was “wrong” that spectators could not enjoy a pint during matches.

I'm opposed to this. You're there to watch the football, not get pissed and spill your bloody pint on some poor dude in front of you, or worse, chunder on someone (like those pissed up idiots at Wales egg matches). Bad idea, end of.

Not for me.

But also why would fans want to even drink that cold, tasteless and overpriced piss I don’t know!

I agree with you majorly, it's a terrible idea.

Many of the younger adults are already pissed before an away game, it'll be a nightmare if they can drink in the stand while watching the game. Nothing good can come of this idea.

Please don’t reintroduce it Major step backwards if it happens

Agreed, if they must, it should be in certain stand/sections so those that want to can, those that don't won't.

It won't happen anyway, though; you just have to look at this thread to see the majority are against it.

A seperate stand or section would be the only answer.

Imagine a late goal for us and some bellend chucking pints around the stands; there would be fights everywhere.

Ridiculous idea.
Cause many problems obviously.

Terrible idea for all the reasons mentioned above.

It's daft enough that people can't go 90 minutes without a pint halfway through but to have pissheads constantly up and down and throwing beer everywhere when a goal is scored - no thanks.

I will have to read it all through again and between the lines.

That photo in the OP has to be staged.
Like most of the crap emanating from the PR machine surrounding this appointee (further details available if Worcester is interested).

There's so much kite flying and spin its already a huge joke.

What's next on the list?

10p off the price of flat caps.
'Labour' branded dog leads, but only for whippets.
5p off your Council Tax if you include 'Ayoop lad' in the remittance.
A mandatory extra currant in every Eccles cake.
Free gender fluid racing pigeon for every house on universal credit

In other news, the tax system is to move into enhanced robbery mode.

I would prefer this thread not to be about politics as it's a football topic (that's a direct response to the last post). Long thought we should have a politics sub-forum on here and I'm not going to talk politics on a football thread, regardless of my closeness to the Prime Minister.

But can someone explain to me that it's fine for Rugby fans to have a drink in a stadium but football fans can't? I find it strange.

As for having beer over your head when something happens. That's happens at gigs, it happens in bars/nightclubs. It's part of the experience.

Will it happen? We'll see. It's been floated as a policy by previous governments but obviously not happened.

I did warn people. I've locked the topic because since my last post there were three posts turning it political - one for Labour, two against.

This was a football thread and people decided to derail it with politics, which this thread was never about.

Enough people have had their say so I'm stopping it before it gets out of hand. It was a football thread ruined by others unfortunately.
