Sporting Director of Tromso:

"TIL [Tromso] and Cardiff have had a dialogue over a period of time. At the same time, there should be other clubs that are close to the situation, and that means you don't want to rush into any decision. Nothing has been decided."

A positive look could imply unless anyone else steps in over the weekend, he may be coming to us on say Monday.

My personal opinion is that we should set some sort of deadline, maybe next week, to both Tromso and the player.

We can't go through all this until the end of August and then potentially see him go elsewhere.

I hope we sign him but I also hope we are actively engaging in talks for whoever the second choice is in that position.

Typical situation in Transfer window no ones in a hurry in case better offer appears... trust bbm to do right thing regarding wait or move on

No doubt the usuals will use this (latest of many) ‘report’ negatively, but it seems pretty standard stuff; and a deal is never done until the ink is dry

We know that all too well, but even from that ‘statement’ the signs are good that we are closing in a a deal, even if Tromso are ‘testing’ the waters for a higher (or better constructed) bid on their asset

That's a fair assessment Chris, just like Tromso say: "Nothing has been decided."

Nothing has been decided is maybe a club's fore-statement before they sell a player.

I really hope he signs but I know no more than anyone else, what will be will be.

It does not sound like he’s all that keen to come to us? If he’s not 100% forget it and move on. However, saying that im sure once he was here he would enjoy the place, team , manager, ground and fans

It’s a big decision and we’d all want ‘options’; but you’re right that he would enjoy it here! :ayatollah:

Should spend the money on Brian De Keersmacker.

Really good in a team that had 30% possession last year.

Yes I agree.

Tell his club to accept the fee by Monday or withdraw. Let them risk losing the biggest transfer fee in their history.

Tell the boy if he doesn't fancy it then fine - stay where he is or go elsewhere.

I hope the club don't go chasing this bloke like a lovestruck teenager and put all their eggs in the one basket.

They either sell him or we pull out. He wants to come or we pull out. Let's not be fucked about by the Norwegians.

Everybody seems to be getting very stressed about an unproven youngster who'll cost a lot of money. I say unproven because he's been at one club in Norway since he was a boy. Will he be able to settle abroad? Can he cope with the Championship?

I bet there's hardly anybody on this board who'd heard of this boy a month ago. Now he's like some sort of midfield magician.

He could be great - he could be another Andreas Cornelius, Mats Dahli, Magnus Eikrim.

Apart from this guy I'm still concerned that we need at least another four players capable of going straight into the first team and it appears that nothing is imminent.

Why do we always seem to find it so difficult to get incoming transfers over the line?

Re: Tromso Sporting Director says:

Or why don’t we just trust our manager and see how this pans out?

‘Sell him or we pull out’

‘Accept by Monday or pull out’

‘Set a deadline’

These are ridiculous statements. Don’t people know hoe these things work?!

Do these guys just think that if we don’t get him we’ll end up with nobody!

You make fair points and I agree that people can overreact.

But this is an ongoing saga. I don't like sagas because they tend to end in disappointment.

So I think we should give it up if we don't hear something soon. We can't be held to ransom and embarrassed when we don't get him.

Nothing to do with our manager if the other club are just dragging things out for as long as they can in the hope that a higher offer will come in.

Do we just wait forever? Do we risk losing out on other targets because this particular club are hoping for a Dutch auction for the player?

How long should we let them string us along?

For all the supposed ITK on here we fans know next to nothing
As they say in snooker Let the shot develop
Posters on here saying set deadline and he doesn’t seem keen to come here we have got to sell to buy
Truth is we don’t know what is going on behind closed doors for all we know a decision hopefully favourable has already been made SO
If we miss out I believe club and BBM have done everything in their power to secure this deal and we move on
I believe he will sign ( hopefully)
But one thing I do know in BBM I trust :bluescarf: :thumbright:

This is how I see it and I really can’t see how pursuing this guy will impact on us losing out on others.

All clubs are the same. Just as an example Arsenal’s long pursuit of Alverez going on and on.

If BBM has made this guy his number one target then why pull out until it becomes impossible?

With all respect, how many times have you watched him play a full game to know that he's a quality player?

And what if we wait until deadline day and don't get him?

Re: Tromso Sporting Director says:

I will only say one thing, I cannot see any club paying that much money up front even if they do offer more money.

Does it matter how many times any particular poster on here has seen him play a full game? It's how many times BBM or our scouts have seen him play a full game surely?
We're chasing him hard so obviously the people that matter know enough about him.
As far as reaching deadline day I'm sure our manager won't let it drag on till then as it'll be obvious to him by that point that it's dead in the water.
We need to give credit to our manager that he knows what he's doing and who he wants and I trust him 100%.

This is bang on. For me, the Tromso Director's statement couldn't be clearer: we're happy with a bidding war from several clubs, we're not bothered if the lad goes to Cardiff or whoever the highest bidder is.

I'd call their bluff and back out, the boy isn't the only fish in the sea FFS.

Explain how it is that 2 midfielders in the Prem can be transferred in next to no time, both over £100 million in value, and our comparatively chicken feed £7 million offer is painfully protracted?

Re: Tromso Sporting Director says:

Sat Jul 25, 2026 9:20 am

Firstly set a deadline. A short one.
No matter how talented he might be, personally I only want players who actually ‘want’ to play for us.
I can see us wasting precious time and lose other potential targets whilst we faff about.
Sell him or don’t sell him. Move on. There are plenty of other players and let’s face it, positions we need strengthening.

7 million is a huge amount of money. The 100 million transfers are going through easy because there's a handful of clubs with that sort of money so the competition isn't there nobody else was coming in for Anderson at anywhere near that price. Tromso are hoping Rangers will come back with more money or one of about 100 other clubs will try to hijack the deal

You're right that most transfers are a gamble but we're going off the point - the fact is this transfer hasn't even taken place yet and the selling club are just stringing us along, knowing that we want to buy the lad but hoping that someone will come in with a higher bid.

In the meantime we could be losing out on other players we could sign whilst we wait for them to decide whether to sell him or not.

Let me be straight - I hope we get him and I hope as you say he's a gem.

However his club and the player ( a youngster with potential but no experience outside his native league) need to decide if they want to sell and he wants to come here.

I'm old enough to remember Jody Morris and Marcus Bent who almost had the pen in their hand ready to sign but disappeared in a cloud of dust as soon as some other club showed the slightest interest.

All transfers are essentially gambles your right but it's not on them to make a decision when there's interest from multiple clubs. They'll take money from the highest bidder, just like they should. Tromso don't care what our fans want.

Look they are obviously willing to let the boy leave it's just a case of maximizing his value, it'll happen when it happens. You mentioned Bent and Jody Morris the only way to guarantee a transfer is to absolutely blow every other clubs offer out of the water, isn't that just throwing money away though
