A forum for all things Cardiff City

Like Clubs like Preston ,Swansea and Stoke spending £6-10M on players, Wrexham spending up to £50Mill a season , and then Clubs like Middlesbrough, WestHam spending £20M plus on players, the bar is even being raised higher than ever in the Championship:
Cardiff will have to bring in at least 5 Quality Championship players to just reach the Top 10 in View:
Cardiff have to many untried players in my view for the Championship so it’s a must:

Sunderland did extremely well with a young squad didn't they?
Untried doesn't mean not good enough. If they're not given an opportunity then they remain untried - how then do they gain that experience?
However, let's not rush things - a season of stabilisation is acceptable to me. One or two experienced players would be useful

Totally agree Annis, we have players who need bulking up to withstand the strength of those experienced players. Ashford for one gets pushed off the ball too easily, needs to change his style and win more free kicks. I think wee need a strong centre back to partner Lawlor, if we can keep him. As proved last season Salech needs a proven backup. Midfield as we know also needs strength. Fingers crossed we get the lad from Norway.

If clubs are spending that kind of money on players, we should be sending our top quality scouts out and bringing the talent into the club, loan them out or sell at a nice profit.
Also why are Cardiff looking to sell players like Lawler for a cut down price, we should be in a massive financial great position, but we are not...WHY.

Spot on. It’s surprising the difference just three key additions can make, and I think we’ll end up with around five more once the loan market settles. We’re going to have a much better, deeper squad than last season, and it's completely BBM-led. As a club, we are genuinely on the up and finally heading in the right direction.

SUNDERLAND:
When Sunderland got promoted:
Sunderland not only played a lot of youngsters which I praised at the time and many disagreed.
They spent 11Mill and Brought in Quality Loans abd went up via the Play offs
Which of our younger ones are good enough to take us up from the Championship?

We defo need some reinforcements (ideally 5). This young squad though deserve the chance to have a right good go at the Cahmpionship and, based on the way we play, I think they'll do well.
Just worry about our lack of physicality and height. There are so many good teams in this league, it's a massive step up from League 1.
I want us to continue to develop this style of play but we gotta defend counter attacks and corners/free kicks a lot better. We only got caught out by this on a few occasions last season, thanks largely to the pi$$ poor quality opposition teams had in front of goal. Its gonna be very different this season.

BBM likes a small squad ,he needs to shift a few players out on loan or get rid imo chambers & Robinson have lost there pace good experienced but slow ,turnbull may have 1 good game in 5 sadly and does not seem to get into the game.
For me this has to happen to free up spaces for newbies .
I have no issue with experienced players as long as they are not slow ,we got away with it in
league 1 but in the championship I don' t think so.

Mark,
So just 3 New players ??
Prediction with 3 New Players where we will end up?
You’re happy with the rest of the Squad?

Three quality players to go straight into the starting 11 and 3 young premier league loans and I think we will be in a good position to push for top half

Agreed, I will take that

Replacement for Wintle
LB
RB
LW
RW
CAM
ST
I think we need that at a minimum. Whether it’s permanent transfers or quality loans. That’s without anybody leaving.

I think if we want top eight (play-offs) then we would need 6-7 new players.
But I don't think that should be the target. We have just been promoted, I would target for a safe mid table season. Five additions should be enough for that.
Nothing wrong with ambition but I always say that if we set targets too high then we set ourselves up for disappointment.

Just stay up will do me and survive currently because let's be honest we have signed nobody yet a loan or two won't cut it in the championship with younger ones in my opinion I that's what we get.
We need 5 better players in weeks ago to get fit and ready but as some believe on here BBM likes a small squad and only wants the right player when the truth is it's all down to what he's given from above money wise or they would be here by now. If people think he's been sat around for 3 months and not telling the club who he wants in asap they are on another planet.
