Cardiff City make £7.8m offer, with £6.2m up front and the rest in bonuses

If Cardiff get promoted etc

So it’s £6.2Mill Offer for Jens.

Cardiff City make stunning £7.8m bid for Jens Hjerto-Dahl after Rangers offer rejected

Cardiff City have submitted a package worth more than £7.8million for Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, with negotiations now under way over a potentially record-breaking transfer.

Cardiff City have launched a huge bid reportedly worth more than £7.8million for Norwegian midfield star Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

Tromsø have not yet accepted the offer, which was submitted this week, but the two clubs are now said to be in negotiations over a deal which would comfortably smash the Norwegian club’s transfer record.

Norwegian outlet, Nordlys, report that the figure tabled is likely to be big enough for both clubs to reach an agreement - however they also add that the offer won't be accepted exactly as it currently stands, meaning tweaks will have to be made.

Hjertø-Dahl has emerged as one of Brian Barry-Murphy’s leading transfer targets following Cardiff’s promotion back to the Championship, with the club determined to add another high-quality midfielder before the new season after the departure of Ryan Wintle.

Cardiff speaking now direct and looking good

Updated:

Cardiff are talking to the Norwegian club, but from a distance through an Agent.

:thumbright:
Cardiff have still not held personal talks and have not done any official bids.

Besiktas are also very interested:

When he was quizzed on any potential decision to make between Besiktas or Rangers, Hjerto-Dahl said: “I still prefer Rangers over Besiktas, but I am prepared for the fact that it could take a long time before a move to a new club is finalised.

According to Norwegian outlet Nordlys, Rangers officials have now flown to Norway for talks with Tromso as they step up their pursuit of the midfielder.

The report claims discussions are at an advanced stage and that the Scottish giants are prepared to offer Tromso a 4 year deal.

Cardiff City have yet to have had any personal conversations or discussions with Tromso or even travelled to Norway.

Always tough to compete with Rangers, said that on the other thread.

I'm sure we'll have other targets.

Who knows. Maybe we’re over there too (as Sky reported). You don’t know who to believe tbh. I’d count him in or out when it’s reported on either our or Rangers official site.

True enough. Just been reading all relevant newspaper / media reports and a few are saying we’re in pole position but Rangers attempting to hijack the deal. Scottish source also saying this so who knows eh.

Re: Latest News on Tromso :

The winners out of this are Tromso.

They have clubs who want to sign him so can drive up the price if they want.

Re: Latest News on Tromso :

Thu Jul 16, 2026 5:03 pm

Rangers insiders are saying the reports they had officials going to Tromso to finalise the deal are false.

They are prioritising a deal for a Serbian midfielder.

I'm speculating, but probably makes us favourites for Hjerto-Dahl.

Ahhh that’s interesting then. They were one of the sources to bring it up that they were trying to hijack the deal with us. Let’s hope they’ve had accurate info that makes their original story incorrect.

Must presume he didn't say wanted to go to rangers? Simply because rangers wouldn't be chasing both players at same time would they?

Well if the rumours are true, we've upped our bid from £5.5m for this Tromso midfielder.

As for matching Wrexham, I doubt it unfortunately. Their commercial deals are impressive and enables them to spend more.

Matching Wrexham is of no concern to me. Just want a good squad of players ready for the championship

I was mearly pointing out how much they are spending along with i presume quite a lot of clubs in the championship, and this is where we find ourselves.
To a lot of our fans 2 million is a lot, just saying we are in with the bigger fish this season we may not wish to spend but others around us will, and i am not saying we should be spending 20 million on getting the best for a push for promotion but others will and that's where we are.

Wrexham are currently way out of our league financially 30 mill a year in sponsorship and owners willing to put that straight into transfers. They are going up in the next 3 years it's almost inevitable.

I'm convinced we'll be fine without a big budget this manager knows what he's doing with a young team

Currently they are, Ned

It is in their interest to ‘beef up’ any interested parties, so they can extract the best price, and I don’t blame them for that. We would do the same!

Tromso are claiming ‘talks have taken place but could be lengthy’ but not said with who; another ploy to draw other interested parties in to the mix

They might have lowered his value though, as they also said, “ "if he does, we have a lot of good players, so we won't be much worse off if Jens disappears.”

Personally, I’d prefer we signed a player that makes us better off for the monies mentioned! :laughing6: :ayatollah:

Jens Hjerto-Dahl

Rangers are preparing to seal a £4.6million deal for Partizan Belgrade skipper Vanja Dragojevic - but their hopes of landing Tromso star Jens Hjerto-Dahl are fading.

It will all come out in the wash, Rog!

Some of the comments surrounding transfers are presumptuous rather than genuine, as we should all know by now that the doors to genuinely confirmed information are tighter than a submarines entry hatch! :ayatollah:

More updated rumours?
43m ago

Tromso boss Jorgen Vik insists the club are in no rush to let Jens Hjerto-Dahl leave amid interest from Cardiff City. Reports suggest Cardiff City are ready to increase their offer. Jens Hjerto-Dahl did not rule out a move to the English second tier last week. He told Nordlys that he thinks the Premier League is an incredibly tough competition. He described the Championship as physical and a league where he might get more opportunities to start games and get more playing time. The player added that he wants to play like everyone else and that they will have to see what happens.
3h ago

Jens Hjerto-Dahl has been a long-term target for Rangers, but Cardiff City are expected to complete a significant transfer for the Norwegian U21 international. According to Record Sport, a move to Ibrox is close to collapsing in favour of a transfer to Wales.

I've given up following this story for now.

Seems endless that one report says we're getting him and another says Rangers are getting him!

I hope we sign him but I also hope we're engaging in talks for whoever the second choice is in case he goes to Rangers.
