PREMIER LEAGUE: NEW MANAGER ANNOUNCED

Tue Jul 07, 2026 11:08 pm

Fulham have confirmed the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa on a three-year deal.

The Cottagers made hiring a new boss a top priority after Marco Silva turned down a new £3million-a-year contract.

And Fulham have now brought 2010 World Cup winner Arbeloa back to the Premier League.

The 43-year-old has made an instant return to the dugout after he was replaced at Real Madrid by Jose Mourinho.

Fulham had held talks with Frank Lampard, with the Chelsea legend taking Coventry to the Championship title in the 2025/26 season.

But it is believed that he is closing in on a new three-year deal in the West Midlands.

Fulham's confirmation of Arbeloa comes after star player Alex Iwobi told talkSPORT that the squad have been left in the dark over who will be replacing Silva.

He is no stranger to the Premier League, having spent two-and-a-half-years at Liverpool between 2007-2009.

It was while at Anfield that he made the first of his 56 Spain appearances.

Very interesting appointment.

Didn't pull up any trees at Real Madrid after the departure of Alonso. There was also disciplinary issues, with players fighting in training.

It's a left field appointment so interesting to see how this plays out.

Mourinho Jnr. without the nouse required to carry it off, Ned?

Can’t say I know too much about him and time will tell, but I can’t see Fulham pulling up trees this coming season

Wilson was always leaving. Potentially a barmstorming appointment - he's a specialist at bringing through youth players having been the Real Madrid youth coach. Fulham have one of the best academies in the country.

Could also be a horrific gamble - They have a nasty first 5 games.
