Once again he gets to involved & makes a Mockery of Football

Mon Jul 06, 2026 3:12 pm

MY VIEW / WHAT THE f**k IS IT GOT TO DO WITH TRUMP??

This is Disgraceful and had not even had a proper appeal.

Trump should not be interfering:

If Belgium go out their will be massive consequences and other Countries will expect the same in future.

Never before in Football History has this happened.

USA HAVE NOW MADE THIS WORLD CUP BE REMEMBERED FOR THE WRONG THINGS.

Trump confirms he got involved:

TRUMP: “THE REFEREE IS VERY SUSPECT”

“USA HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THEIR BEST TEAM IF NOT, I WILL SAY IT WAS RIGGED”

President Donald Trump personally intervened in Folarin Balogun's World Cup red card controversy.

USA main Striker will now play v Belgium tonight.

DICTATOR TRUMP:

"I saw the play. It wasn't even a foul and that referee is suspicious. He made an inexplicable decision. Balogun is our best player and he showed him the red.”

WHAT HAPPENS IF AMERICA WON THE WORLD CUP??

Re: Once again he gets to involved & makes a Mockery of Foot

Mon Jul 06, 2026 4:15 pm

FIFA President Gianni Infantino responds:

“I have seen the public comments regarding the decision of the independent FIFA Disciplinary Committee related to the suspension of Folarin Balogun, and I would like to reiterate a fundamental principle of FIFA’s governance.

“FIFA’s judicial bodies are independent. They operate autonomously, apply the FIFA Disciplinary Code, and decide cases based on the applicable regulations and the specific facts before them. Their independence is essential to the credibility and integrity of football, and this must always be respected.

“Yes, I regularly discuss matters related to the FIFA World Cup with the President of the United States, and on this matter, I did receive a call from President Donald Trump, just as I receive calls from heads of state, government officials, football stakeholders and business executives from around the world on many different issues. During our conversation, I explained that there was an ongoing legal process involving FIFA’s independent judicial bodies and that the case would be decided in due course by the competent bodies. That is how FIFA’s system works, and it is a principle that I will always uphold.

“I read the decisions of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee when they are issued. Sometimes I am surprised by them. Sometimes I agree with them, and sometimes I disagree.

“What I always do, however, is respect those decisions and the autonomy of the bodies that make them. Whether we personally like a decision or not is irrelevant. Respect for independent institutions and the rule of law is what protects the integrity of our competitions and the credibility of FIFA at all times.”

All infantino and FIFA's fault. All they had to do is say no to trump, you can't blame trump for putting it to infantino, I doubt he's the first and he definitely won't be the last now FIFA have given in twice.

FIFA’s turn down Belgium’s Appeal

FIFA say they have turned down the appeal because Belgium "are not party to the proceedings so have no standing to appeal the decision."

Belgian Federation inform US Soccer they will contest Balogun’s eligibility after the game, if selected.

“The RBFA has informed the United States Soccer Federation that it contests the eligibility of the player, should the player be listed on the referee's team sheet”.

“This leaves all further actions open.”

Infantino and FIFA are corrupt; God knows what sweeteners were delivered, but Jesus Christ, the panic is well over the top; he is an Arsenal kid who never made it and plays in a mid-tier French team. Belgium have looked poor but still should have too much

The ref is interesting, low fouls and not card-happy...... Not sure who that favours yet

But they had no mechanism in WC to recind the suspension? So saying Belgium have no part in this is double standards at best

It makes me laugh that the outrage here is all about Donald Trump, he is not the one who actually makes the decision, it is FIFA.

For all you posters suffering from TDS.......I feel for you. If you have an angst it is with FIFA, not the President of the free world. :bluebird:

TDS works both ways, you seem to have Trump Devotion Syndrome if you can't see his meddling in this WC that he even admitted to. Talk about delusional, being this devoted to a man thousands of miles away takes the cake.

At the end of the day Infantino is the bigger issue here as he is as enamored by DT as you seem to be, it's like me being devoted to Starmer but at least I could have voted for him if I so chose to do so. Did you vote for Trump?

Keep politics and politicians out of sport, that's where we are.

I totally agree.

As I said on the other thread, Infantino needs to resign.

He won't resign because he loves the power, the backhanders & the freebies. Maybe someone will stand against him at the next FIFA election but I won't hold my breath.

Dear oh dear, I guess you have been infested by CWS (Californian Woke Syndrome). In fairness at least you agree with my point that the issue is not Sir Donald Trump but the actual governing body of football, namely FIFA, as highlighted in bold in our comments above. Thanks for your support. :bluebird:

Jim,

Correct I can’t stand Trump.

Not a free world

Trump should not have got involved with FIFA or anything to do with this World Cup other than be very grateful it’s in America.

Politicians should not get involved in what’s happening on the pitch.

Jürgen Klopp reacted to Donald Trump and Gianni Infantino:

"Politicians don't understand football and need to stop interfering. Balogun's challenge was a clear red card. There is no other explanation."

This is the problems it's caused, all because Infantino didn't stand firm:

England was Quansah's red rescinded

France want Olise's yellow rescinded

That’s news to me as it is reported that they advised FIFA that the kick off time should remain the same due to travelling fans and both teams did not want the kick off altered

Said this would happen before England game? But trouble is infantino won't say why it was suspended because if dodgy that opens the can of worms I said other day.. if know why that's the basis for all further red cards to be scrutinised and changed if falls within infantino rationale! Last nights was only bad because his foot hit ball and went higher.. the funny thing is Messi deliberately raked calf of player got booked no var intervention....

José Mourinho on the overturned red card for Folarin Balogun:

“Why? Because they’re the hosts?”

“What is this nonsense? In football, these decisions must be the same for everyone. If the red card is a red card, it stays a red card.”

“People don’t like to admit it, but sometimes where you come from changes how you’re treated. Tell me honestly—does that decision get overturned if the player represents Ghana or Paraguay? I don’t think so. The rules should be the same for every nation.”
