DO WE ALL ACCEPT WE ARE NOT DOING PROMOTION

Sun Jul 05, 2026 9:32 pm

Just thinking that we are hoping not to be relegated but accept we are not pushing for promotion but hopefully give a good account of ourselves.
If we where pushing for a hopefully a promotion place,
we would be spending millions by now ,but I would be surprised if we actually signed a player, i exspect loans only .

Has anyone in the Championship spent millions yet? I just presume there won't be much in the way of transfers for anyone until the whole merry go round starts after the world cup.

On your other point I would think every team thinks they should be pushing for promotion before the season starts.

I said when we got promoted that I would be happy with a couple of boring mid table seasons.

We can't expect to be pushing for promotion after a season in the third tier.

I would hope we can start to push in the third season.

I would be happy if we had a top half finish with us just missing out on play-offs in 8th

May as well give up now? No promotion push no players sighned except cheap loans so only way is down! Nothing like optimism going into new season! :o

I’m not EXPECTING promotion but I live in hope of a good effort. What is the point of turning up otherwise? :?

There seems to be a push for negativity before the season has even started, so maybe we would have been better off staying in League One being a big fish in a small, stagnant pond, and gaining often uncompetitive points?

We’re in the Championship! Let’s compete and let’s ’give it a go’ on the pitch and in the stands! :bluebird: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Already lumped on a top 8 finish, think a lot of people will be surprised how well we do this season , especially once bbm gets the players in he wants

I think we will do a lot better than many people think. Could we do a Sunderland? Maybe not, but add at least 5 quality signings to our squad and you never know.

It depends what you mean are we going to be top two? No. Top 8 we are in with a shout. We need signings but not that many, I like our squad and think there's way more to come from our younger players

A top 8 finish will see us in the play offs

I don't want to be in that relegation battle and relying how other results go.i would be happy with a mid table place this season.have good home form and pick up a few points away.

Currently bottom half with what we got id say as most have been there before. If we sign 4 or 5 better proven players than what we got then who knows. But you can't keep it real on here before somebody says your negative, it's always got to be top end finish talk or your not a fan and negative. Rather than just being realistic. We shall see what option we go down freebies and loans I suspect but it won't make me not show up either way. That's football :bluescarf:

Realistically I’d say we have to ensure we avoid relegation, and clearly, not to get dragged into a battle.

However, I can kind of agree with others over where I’d hope we will be. I always hope they smash my opinion and shock everyone, so I’m hoping the same this season.

We do need to recruit, obviously we’re waiting at the moment for the World Cup players to return so we can negotiate face to face with some of them…..

Agree about keeping it real, not trying to be negative.

The way that the playoffs are organised this year, if we’re not flirting with the relegation spots we’re likely to be pushing for playoffs

8th gets you into the play offs this season doesnt it?

I will take 10th as BBM will have No real money and in this league you need money

I'll be happy with a mid table finish. Ideally 12th or above so we can officially say a top half finish. Anything else is a bonus.

We do need a few quality signings to achieve that though. We've got a very 'together' group but our youth and naivety will be exploited a lot more in the championship. Hopefully BBM and his team are working on that.

Certainly not, I actually think this young fresh team superbly coached will go up automatically. In fact I think we'll storm the division. Champions by Easter . Good runs in both cups to the semi finals and possibly an FA Cup final. Back to Europe the next season. All roared on by the city faithful

Nobody has suggested that we're waiting to speak to players at the WC but they are at the top of the tree & not much happens until they start moving around & the top teams know who is staying & going and then it trickles down to Championship teams.

I'm with you; we have the best oe one of the best, managers in the league, and that's the most important person in any team, so why not?

Let's see who we sign and get behind them all no matter what :ayatollah:
