BBM and his coaching staff back today

Wed Jun 17, 2026 2:25 pm

Cardiff City's summer preparations are beginning to gather pace with head coach Brian Barry-Murphy and his backroom staff now back at the club's Vale of Glamorgan training base.

The Bluebirds have endured a relatively quiet start to the transfer window, with goalkeeper Nathan Trott's loan move being made permanent the only piece of business completed so far.

However, with the window now open and Cardiff gearing up for life back in the Championship, a series of meetings are understood to be taking place this week as plans for the months ahead are finalised.

Barry-Murphy has spent much of the close season away from Cardiff following the club's promotion-winning campaign. Shortly after the end of the season, the Irishman travelled to Malaysia to meet owner Vincent Tan face-to-face for the first time, with recruitment and summer planning likely to have featured prominently on the agenda.

The Cardiff boss has also spent time back in his native Cork, a city the Bluebirds will revisit next month when they travel to Ireland for part of their pre-season preparations.

Players are expected to report back to the Vale on June 29, meaning the countdown to the new Championship campaign is now firmly under way.

With staff back at headquarters and transfer discussions set to intensify, Cardiff's summer is beginning to move through the gears.

In what way are you/others expecting that to be?

Personally, I think he will be ‘backed’ to bring in the type and style of players he actually ‘wants’ rather than seeing large transfer and agency fees paid out

If BBM is happy, then so should we be! :ayatollah:

I agree apart from bbm could have replaced salec in the window with a other striker but that was just my thought.

I agree apart from bbm could have replaced salec but that was my view only

It’s a valid one, but not one I share. Assuming we see a fit Salech next season, I think he will grow in stature, as is the norm with strikers as they learn and mature

I’m of a similar opinion re Callum Robinson, not the ‘still maturing’ bit, though, as I think he will be an asset in and off the pitch, although up front is clearly an area that needs additions :ayatollah:

Not bringing in a replacement was a prudent decision. I know many on the board disagreed but we could have easily found ourselves with a Medine type situation where after being promoted your stuck with a striker who's not up to it at a higher level. We'll see who comes in and how we stack up in the championship

Not sure it was a valid one it was more a knee jerk reaction and would have been a panic buy. My opinion on not getting anyone in was the same as yours.

With our promotion it’s been proved right and luckily we have a sensible manager when it comes to adding to our squad.

Now with the summer transfer window open if BBM decides he wants another striker he has a much better choice of who’s available within his budget.

Agreed, many wanted a panic Madine type buy, BBM and Tan were proved right on that one, and now we can get someone decent as we have a full window to shop in.

BBM has settled right in now, won the trust of Tan, the players and the fans, with a full window to prepare and build i'm really looking forward to the season ahead. :ayatollah:

I never once said buy a player, but a loan would have been a good idea at the time of salec's known long lay off we had at the time Robinson hardly playing a game and it was all down to kellyman yes we where lucky come tge end if the season but it could have gone the other way so we took a chance and let the window close without a replacement.
