This is a formal debt recovery step, triggered by a creditor claiming unpaid money, and a winding-up petition I has been filed in the UK High Court
It is essentially a legal “last resort” demand for payment, which can lead to administration or closure (both highly unlikely in this case)
Early reports suggest it is not HMRC-led tax enforcement, but rather a private creditor dispute, i.e. a business claiming it hasn’t been paid.
That’s important because HMRC petitions are usually severe financial distress, whilst private creditor petitions normally involve disputes, arrears, or delayed payment negotiations
