Sunderland keeper with a wicked price tag MILLWALL WREXHAM & WOLVES all looking to sign him ,and this guy is just a keeper this is the sort of money the championship teams are prepared to spend .
Icannot see us spending that sort of money on any position, and it was a steel by us to sign trott.

Glad we're not spending that sort of money. It's irresponsible.
This isn't football manager.

Just a keeper? Every bit as important as a midfielder or striker.

I hope we dont spend like wrexham , they pay way over the odds for average players on massive wages , when that bubble bursts which it will they will be in big trouble
I much prefer the way bbm goes about his business, only brings in what we need when we need it , 8 million for Patterson or 1.5 mill for trott I know which one I think is a better deal
Also bbm will be given what he needs this summer to make us competitive im confident of that

Shows we were smart to include an option to buy clause with the loan for Trott so he only cost us 1.5m
I bet Patterson wasn't worth 8m when Millwall signed him on loan beginning of the season
Now they have to cough up 8m to keep him and they have competition from other clubs for his signature

Ridiculous amount for a championship keeper, makes Trott seem like the bargain of the season & it hasn't even started yet.

i agree i really like the way bbm goes about his business. every signing so far has been one where the player has a long lasting value never one after a last pay day, whether its a youngster or a mid twenty something hes always lo9king to add value. it will get more difficult as the team progresses as we will need some experience but by that time the youngsters will have another year in the tank. in bbm we trust

Jock
was' n dissing the guy personally but goal keepers do not usually demand as much as other positions.
But keepers job is just as important as a striker i agree .

Sadly, I don’t think the Wrexham bubble will burst. People said the same about Chelsea and then Man City when they had rich owners.
They don’t have that fire power in terms of money, but they’ve brought a structure of untapped money other clubs aren’t getting close to, and a model which can’t easily be copied without it feeling like a copy.
Good luck to them, sustained success will make the club bigger forever if it keeps going 10-20 years

Their bubble will burst. When is the question and while it will make the club bigger, it won't make them a "big" club by any means, they are producing an insane amount of sponsorship and putting it all into the team, the problem they have is the TV show will end or decline massively and so will the sponsorship.

You don't get teams doing what Man City and Chelsea did though.
The reason is the Premier League clubs have effectively blocked it with all the financial rules they've voted through. That's why Newcastle have so much money but can't break into the elite, the rules block them. Also why they had to sell players like Elliott Anderson.
Clubs like Man Utd and Liverpool didn't want more clubs to be able to spend like they can.
If Wrexham get to the Premier League, they would find the same rules blocking them from progressing.

Good post, Trott was a hell of a good value signing, it would be interesting to see his value at the end of this season, as Jock says, keepers are vitally important signings.
I suppose even at that price, if Wrexham, Millwall, Wolves or whoever go on to sign him and win promotion, it will look like a snip.

I would say trott will prove himself to be one of the top 5 keepers in the championship this coming season.
