Updated:

Bristol City appointed Lincoln manager Michael Skubala as their new manager yesterday.

In his three seasons in charge at Lincoln City, they finished seventh, 11th and 1st in League One respectively.

Looks like this is happening then , wonder how Lincoln will manage without him

Honestly, think this is a mistake by Skubala.

He was really building something at Lincoln and the Bristol owner isn't good to work for.

Surprised he's leaving.

Yea im surprised as well , hes done an outstanding job at Lincoln had the players running through brick walls for him and on an astonishing unbeaten run

Yet hes trading a fairytale story for mid table mediocrity at the wurzels

Getting 5 times the salary he was on and with a bigger club with more money Think we would all jump for the extra salary

Makes total sense.

Lincoln max'd every sinue to beat us by however many points; there is very little room for improvement. Championship players are on too high a financial level for them to think higher than just survival. The law of averages says Bristol will fluke it to the prem at some point, and he has more chance with them than Lincoln.

Cardiff and Bolton have scope to improve. We had a ridiculously young team, many in their rookie season. Bigger clubs due to their manager, facilities, or location, tend to get the better loans as well.

Massive admiration for Skubula, made the sum of the parts greater than the individual talents, and that's what a leader should do.

Replied without reading most of the replies, but agree

It will be interesting to see how he and BBM do this season, two good managers on the up, Bristol City is quite a big club, almost as big as us.

Can't blame him you can't squeeze blood out of a stone. He massively overachieved with a squad of very limited players.
So that is Lincoln bottom then .

Not everyone is that shallow that they only care about money.

Most know that they can progress their career better by staying where they are.

Kieran McKenna is a good example of that.

He's probably thinking that if he finishes bottom with Lincoln this season it could damage his reputation and might put clubs off him

I can't see how he can take Lincoln much further than they are now

They won't keep that undefeated streak going in the championship for very long and I think that will be the start of the wheels coming off

Probably have even less money to spend than we will so it's going to be a hard job keeping them up

I personally feel he could get a better club than Bristol though

But as harsh as it is I think Bristol is still a step up from Lincoln

If Lincoln are bottom after 5 games the fans would say sack Skubala. You go if you have the opportunity they are not fans like us it is their employment. If someone offered me double the salary I was on for the same role I would go and most people would.

My thoughts exactly. Lincoln have hit their ceiling. I'm not too familiar with their owners but are they really going to throw money around to stabilise or even have a real go in the championship? I'd be shocked. It's a 3rd or 4th tier club based on everything from fanbase to stadium. I've read a couple of articles indicating Bristol wants to have a proper go at it this year so why on earth wouldn't he say yes

That's bollocks.

They'd be mad to call for him to go if they're in the bottom three that early in the season. Same goes for us and BBM.

They would indeed be mad but fans have short memories and it wouldn’t stop it from happening.

You would hope that the departure of their manager will upset the apple-cart somewhat with their style of play. I would hope too that this means Lincoln will be one team we can definitely look to overtake.

Will be interesting to see what difference this makes with them.

I don’t think that would have happened either, Andrew

It takes time to ‘build’ a team/squad and both the Wurzel owner and support will be on his back at the first opportunity

Not a good club, not a good owner and definitely not good supporters! :(
This is OUR club, not Vincent Tan’s! He is a temporary custodian and will be judged on the state he leaves us in when he leaves!

I have already been winding my Bristol mates up about the style of play they will have next season. Hopefully it all goes pear shaped for them!

It will be interesting to see how he’s going to play with Bristol City. Lincoln were very direct last year with some of the lowest possession stats in the league, will he do something similar at Bristol City or will he expected to play a brand of football that is not quite so direct and pragmatic.. he might also look to take a couple of players with him..
