West Ham manager to stay in charge

Wed May 27, 2026 9:04 am

Despite reports that he was set to leave, West Ham United have announced that Nuno Espirito Santo will remain in charge of the team.

The club say he has shown commitment to them to remain in place for the Championship next season and also said they have shown commitment to him staying in charge.

I'd be shocked if they don't bounce straight back up. I'm not sure how wolves or burnley will do, but West Ham with their resources and manager who's got experience of winning the championship before with a strong squad should be too much for the rest of the league. A good choice to stick rather than twist.

He’s a decent manager. I’m no expert but I believe a club should completely reset after relegation and bring in a new management team. It worked well keeping Kieran McKenna on at Ipswich, but they don’t have the same expectations as West Ham, nor would they have been so devastated at getting relegated and they did so well and better than expected

Right decision in my opinion:

I believe he will take them straight back up

Retaining Nuno is a great piece of business. Now onto Bowen.

Have no doubt they will go up automatically especially with the talent they possess notwithstanding a coupled of departures.

Nuno took Wolves up from the Championship 2017-18 season .

You are spot on there mate, hard to see there being two automatic spots up for grabs. West Ham and let the rest fight it out.

Interesting to see which WHU players are there at the start of next season - Interest from other clubs already .

West Ham's relegation stems from them getting rid of David Moyes, at the time a large section of their fans where quite vocal he'd "taken them as far as he could" (apparently a European trophy wasn't enough). Nuno is a good manager and I'd take him over Scott Parker who was rumoured to be lined up for the job. I interesting to see who ends up staying or going, but I fully expect them to win the championship by a distance
