Wes Burns

Sun May 24, 2026 11:41 pm

There's talk on social media that Wes Burns could be coming to us.

He's 31 now and been at Ipswich for the last five seasons, including in the Premier League.

Mainly a substitute for Ipswich this season but chipped in with a couple of goals.

Obviously just a rumour though and I'm cautious of rumours at this stage, because the gap between the season ending and the window opening is the silliest of all silly seasons.

His brother posts on a group im in and said its not true but maybe hes just trying to throw us off the scent lol , not sure his profile fits your typical bbm signing but its probably more realistic than some of the names I've seen floating about

About as far as you could get from BBMs usual type of signing so I'm saying not a chance.

I can see us playing the resale game with us recruiting young players. It's why i think the Motherwell lad talk is just paper.

BBM & Riley are very well-connected to Premier League academy talent. I see that as our main supply route, so 31 year old Wes is more paper talk

I've seen this rumour on cardiff city world possibly a good squad player but injury prone also too old for bbm age group

I've also heard this. Better than what we have but is injury prone.

Not for me. Only 38 appearances in 2 seasons with only 2 goals and 2 assists. Seems to be on the decline and the type of signing we'd have made in our slide down the championship and into L1.

Wes Burns of 4 years ago type signing is what we need.

Bit unfair to say he is injury prone. He had a bad injury 16 months ago and was out for nearly a year and then got injured not long after he came back but that can happen to anyone. Before that he had played nearly 400 games at the age of 29.

Seen better charted football careers:

2012–2017 Bristol 44 ( 3)
2012–2013 Forest Green (loan) 6 (1)
2014–2015 Oxford ( loan) 9 (1)
2015 Cheltenham ( loan) 14 (4)
2016 Fleetwood ( loan) 14 (5)
2016–2017 Aberdeen (loan) 13 ( 0 )
2017–2021 : Fleetwood 144 ( 16)
2021– Ipswich 150 ( 28)

Tanner is a better more versatile option

Yes, but older players hardly ever come back well from them. I can't see it at all. We should have learned our lessons from Ramsey, Meite and the rest, badly injured players leave well alone.
