WHO ELSE IS NEXT FOR THE CHOP ?

Wed May 20, 2026 12:19 pm

If the player of the year has gone who next if it's the wages, the age?

Willock maybe or chambers, if wintle has been moved out for what ever reasons and turnbull stays,

i think my head will fall off

Re: WHO ELSE IS NEXT FOR THE CHOP ?

Wintle is out of contract.

Re: WHO ELSE IS NEXT FOR THE CHOP ?

My guess would be Robinson

Can see Chambers going as he's apparently on big money however I think Willock will stay.
Having said that about Chambers wouldn't surprise me if he stayed either

My guess Chambers will be our new no 6 and if BBM signs savage he will not be first choice.

Someone is going to have to want him as he's under contract for (I think) another year.

I think a fair few of the u21,s will be let go , bbm seems to favour the younger generation the u16,s and u18,s

I agree and the same applies to Chambers.
Whether they find another club is one point but they also need to consider the wages. Let’s say CR is on £18K a week with us, I’d wager he wouldn’t leave us for less than around £14-15K; same applies to CC.

We've signed Trott, retained 2 championship quality players and released the 4th most important out of the 4 in my opinion. Hardly 'chopping' people, is it? Wintle will end up in a L1 club.

Who's next? For me, any others who are bottom of championship or L1 standard! I'd argue that Willock and Chambers could be in that category at this stage of their careers.

Are we building/retaining a relegation survival squad or do we want to push on for top half? If it's the latter, then some will have to leave for improved replacements.

Chambers as a 6 protecting back 4 is perfect for me

Re: WHO ELSE IS NEXT FOR THE CHOP ?

Wed May 20, 2026 1:38 pm

What do you mean the chop? We had 3 guys put of contract and decided to leave one go. I'm sure given the choice the club would move a few more on. Chambers, Robinson, Turnbull and Willock are probably all high earners but they've got time left so unless someone wants to buy them I don't think they'll be going anywhere.

Very unlikely that BBM has that in mind I think.

Had plenty of opportunities to try this in League 1 but didn't do it even once.

Don't think we'll spend any money on a replacement for Wintle.

It'll be King or Mafico in the middle next year.

Nice and cheap.

No room for sentiment in football .
Nobody has been chopped just didn't have a renewal of contract.
Bear in mind wintle was poor for us in the championship and couldn't
Get in the Millwall team.. we needed better

People said the sign whether BBM would be backed or not would be if we signed Trott. We did sign him. Or did that thinking only apply if we didn't sign Trott?

I said chop because wintle,by what he said it was out of his control, so either bbm or tan said goodbye ,most on this topic think it was bbm.
Chop might not have been the right word but it was a slang term, his contract may have been up, but it was not renewed.

We are paying whoever to tear up their contract.

Turnbull, Chambers, Robinson & King still have a year left.

I doubt any of them could get a deal the same as the one they are on, so i doubt they'll be in a rush to move on, unless we incentivise them to go.

If he is on £10k a week and could only get £6K elsewhere, would you give him £200k golden handshake?

Who is him? And why would he take less than half a year's pay to leave? Would you?

I was more refering to the headline on your post. My bad if I was a bit unclear just meant I don't think this is the beginning of us having a clear out. All out other first team players are under contract. The only one I see realistically being sold is Lawlor if a big offer comes

Turnbull, Chambers, and Robinson were the ones I was thinking about. I wouldn't move on unless you made up my salary for the remainder of my contract.

If Turnbull fancied a move back to Scotland but could only get £300K a year up there, I'd offer to rip up my £500k Cardiff if we negotiated a £200K golden handshake.

I am sure some of our fans think we can just get rid of contracted players

Fair enough, I think the "he" confused me a little. All that makes it a little clearer & yes some seem to think we can just get rid of players because we want to.

Eli King is going nowhere. He signed a new contract after his injury, not going to ditch him now.

One player to try stay in the championship is hardly being backed Ned of course it's not or trott will be extra busy is that's all that comes in I can assure you but early doors yet we need atleast 4 or 5 outfield players better than what's here for sure in my opinion :bluescarf:

You’re right the more negative of the bunch here we’re saying we wouldn’t get Trott.

Even the guy you’ve just answered said we couldn’t afforded Del Boy Trotter let alone Trott.

I do agree though, we need a few new quality players to come in.

Negative negative that's all people say the usual woke shit replys . It's a fact that one player won't achieve anything in the championship and trott fee is being paid over 2 years not upfront so that tells me it be freebies and cheap options but along way to go yet before the season starts . We need 5 more I'd say to even stay up in my opinion :bluescarf:

I would say 99.9% of transfers are paid in installments over a few years these days , we paid 500k up front for trott so theres definitely a little money in the pot ,

in my opinion without any signings we would finish lower mid table with 4 good championship quality players we will push for 8th ,

I think people will be pleasantly surprised with our transfer business in the next couple of months

There’s nothing woke about me in fact I’m about the most opposite to woke as you can get.

I mentioned you in the thread as you said we’d never pay for Trott which if that’s not negative I don’t know what is.

We’ve paid for him and I’m sure we’ll get some more in.

I prefer the way BBM is doing things, personally, as opposed to gambling and spending/wasting millions and millions in the past.

Re: WHO ELSE IS NEXT FOR THE CHOP ?

Simic and Etete would be the most logical
They are clearly not wanted by the club
Don't even get why Etete was offered a new deal in the first place

and I'd say Daaland needs to be moved on
