Manchester City win FA Cup

Sat May 16, 2026 3:56 pm

Manchester City have won the FA Cup after beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley.

It completes a domestic cup double for Pep Guardiola's team, after they won the Carabao Cup in March.

FA Cup not what it used to be .

City's 89,874 Wembley attendance record remains intact.

There were about 83k there today which is way down on what it should be.

I don't think they will properly get a full house there for the cup final until they move the semi finals to other neutral grounds - such as the Principality, Villa Park etc.

Today was the third time Man City have been to Wembley in 2026.

Principality has the Community Shield this year so they can use that as a trial.

The only reason the community shield is in Cardiff is because the weekend are playing there at the same dates, no way the fa will move the fa cup semis anywhere other than Wembley.

The issue isn't the semi finals it more that the same teams are constantly in the final. Chelsea 6 FA Cup finals in 10 years City 5, it's not something that's must see for their fans it's almost a given

There was a time that they played the semi finals at Villa Park.

I think they should go back to that or other neutral grounds, because it's devaluing trips to Wembley in my opinion.

Don’t count out the Principality hosting other ‘major’ footballing events in the future. It’s the ‘go to’ venue when Wembley is unavailable and both the FA and supporters love the place! :ayatollah:
