Can someone please explain how ON EARTH this is onside? Hearts have been absolutely robbed at the death.

A very dark day for Scottish football

The player in offside position didn't actually play the ball, the Celtic player in an onside position played the through pass, then crossed for the other player to score, he is onside. However I do agree Hearts have been robbed of the championship after that disastrous penalty decision awarded to Cheateltic in midweek. If that penalty was not given Hearts would be champions on goal difference.

It’s ridiculous. If you watch the full clip, the centre-back actually executes a perfect offside trap. But because the initial pass doesn’t go directly to the offside player, it’s treated as a new phase of play once the winger cuts the ball back to him from an onside position.

The argument is that the player wasn’t interfering with play during the first pass, but the reality is the defender can’t recover because he’s already stepped up to play him offside — and it ends up being a simple tap-in.

It’s another example of the authorities introducing rules that are anything but black and white, creating even more uncertainty and confusion in the game.

Even the penalty decision was harsh. The ball hits his arm from about two yards away, yet the argument is that his arm was in an “unnatural position.”

My argument is that he had no time to react. If anyone attempts a slide tackle, their arms will end up in different positions every single time. There’s no way that was an intentional handball.

Still think it's offside
The player is distracting the GK and the defenders to create the space for the receiver to run into the GK doesn’t know which player is getting the ball
So how is that not interfering with play

Annis i can explain this.

Prior to the spl league split, Celtic were horrendous.
Hearts have been flying all season and were heading towards their first lge title in over 60 years.
However the SPL is not a brand name. Celtic and Rangers respecively are brand names.
So the SPL had to do all they could do to ensure one of the brand teams were sucessfull.
Opening weekend (norm old firm) was edinburgh derby and Glasgow was made the following weekend.
This also meant Celtic would be at home for their final game.
Final Game was Hearts, and agaun that would be at home.
11 times this campagin Celtic have scored beyond additional time.
Most of the league accept it as extra time just means play on til celtic score.
Ita a running joke.
The whole system is set up to see them succeed.

Therefore, offsides will be onside. 50/50s will be 100% Celtic.

Well Done Hearts for pushing them until the last kick of the ball.. :ayatollah:

League is a joke.
Clubs are a joke.

But i respect the hell out of any scottish fan who goes and follows any team that isnt a member of the old firm.

Goal was correctly given for Celtic. It’s more questionable about last weeks VAR then this one
