Championship club activate Skubala's release clause

Tue May 12, 2026 5:11 pm

Championship club Bristol City have activated the release clause for Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala.

It is unlikely they would have done that without already agreeing terms with him, so it looks like he is set to take charge at Ashton Gate.

Very surprised if he goes, I would have thought he'd have got a better offer if he'd waited a bit.

Bristol's owners are not great so he may be better staying at Lincoln.

Not a great start to championship life for Lincoln. He's moulded that side in to what it is. Tough job to replace a man that the players ran through walls for

That's bad form if he moves to Bristol. No loyalty left in the game these days. Atleast stay for next season.

Number one rule of appointing a manager

Never add a release clause to the contract esp as a low champ/league 1 team as any sort of form will just cause a very quick poaching higher up the table - they will struggle massively now next season imo (will do a job with the Worzels tbh)

What are you talking about? He turned them down & is staying put.
