BBM Speaking about Ken Choo / Vincent Tan / Plus :

Mon May 11, 2026 11:28 am

Hmmmmmmmmmm Ken Choo Hmmmmm ?????

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"I've been really grateful to Vincent (Tan) and Ken (Choo) for doing so much on getting players futures tied up and setting out new contracts for them.”

“ I think with the nature of players when they're out of contract at the end of the season, there's so many discussions that go on with so many parties that the only time you can really comment on it is when you actually sign something.”

"That's always best because there are so many different moving parts to these situations and they are private conversations for those players and representatives.”

Ng, as thing stand, is out of contract this summer, and there's not yet been any indication over whether he will sign a new deal yet.

Tying down the two-time player of the season will likely be seen as a key priority heading into the summer, with Ng also a proven Championship performer.

Brian Barry-Murphy, who jetted out to Malaysia to meet City owner Vincent Tan for the first time this week, has previously refused to be drawn on what might happen with the defender, as well as fellow out-of-contract stars Ryan Wintle and Joel Bagan.

"I know when you're a player and go into the last year of your contract and you're playing as well as they are, your team are seeing what's available everywhere and that's normal.

"So our job is to look after Cardiff and make sure we're prepared for every eventuality."

Would like perry to sign for another year but if he sees his future elsewhere I'd wish him well, only want players who want to be here

He’s 30 so he’ll be looking for a 3yr contract I would have thought. His team are probably saying to him this is the last contract opportunity to make really decent money before his value dips as he gets into his mid thirties

If Ng wants something like a three year deal then I wouldn't offer him it.

Three year deals are fine for younger players, but not at that age. That's where we've gone wrong in the past.

Been a good player for us and I hope he stays, but not for an unreasonable contract length.

Spot on. I love perry but any deal has to be beneficial to the player AND the club

Ned, Perry Ng “wanting 3 years” was just a suggestion from a poster guessing at his wants, assuming there is an ‘issue’ other than an ongoing discussion

I’m not worried, as I believe in the BBM project and his words in his interview pretty much sum it up for me, i.e. it’s pointless (him or the club) commentating until there’s anything to announce

Certainly going to be an interesting Summer at the CCS, I believe! :ayatollah:

If we cannot imo give perry what he requires after his steadfast commitment to cardiff, i believe that's poor from us, but that's my opinion others will differ.
But I am sure after we are in receipt of nearly 11 million for getting ourselves back in the Championship perry Ng will not be making much of a dent in that sum but we will see what rabbit pops out of the hat but when kapakio played left back everyone was crying to have perry back including myself he has been steady chipped in with some great goals and I cannot see him dropping off fitness wise.

Yes absolutely, it was just a guess. But Ng and his representatives will know this is probably his last opportunity to secure a big contract, before his value begins to diminish, so they would be playing hardball to get as long and as good a contract as possible

I hope Perry NG stays. I'd be really surprised if he left coz he seems to love everything about BBM and our playing style. Surely they can strike a deal.

I'd prefer him have a new 2 year contract and not a 3. However, if it means losing him to another club, give him the 3. If ever there is a 30 year old who is still as fit as a fiddle and showing no signs of slowing down, it's NG.

Different story if his demands are way over the top of course.

It had to be our player of the year and 2 other players that have made reputable L1 teams of the year that are all out of contract.

BBM is taking a very sensible, professional approach to this contract expiry/renewal possibility. It boils down to a few key questions for the club: Do we need him right now? Will he still be a first-team asset at the end of his contract? Most importantly, is there a better, younger option available? We need to prioritise players who fit the new profile—improving talent with high resale value at the end of their deal.

I would imagine PN would love to stay, but will have to consider a shorter contract and a move for a short term in two years.

He's 30 not 35

Yeah, wouldn't give a three year contract to a 30-year-old. Exactly the mistakes we've made before.

If his form dropped in a year then the same people demanding we give him what he wants would be crying "why did we give him a three year contract?"

I do take your point we've been suckered on contracts before, but it's totally dependent on the type of player. He's not a speed merchant who's legs might go, he's also not Tomlin, or a skill player like Robbo, I don't think losing half a yard would kill his game. He's gritty, niggly and playing right back I wouldn't be surprised if he's not a better player at 35.

I would give him 2 years at most with 1 year extension clause which will take him to 33, will allow enough time for him to mentor/bring Kpakio through as our long term choice at RB - same will apply to Spiers at RB unless the reports are true abt him going in the summer
