Club explain Nathan Trott sale in unusual move
FC Copenhagen have taken the unusual step of publicly explaining why they sanctioned the permanent sale of Nathan Trott to Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds confirmed on Friday that they had triggered the £1.5million option-to-buy clause included in Trott’s loan agreement following their promotion back to the Championship, with the goalkeeper signing a three-year contract until 2029.
Trott enjoyed an outstanding campaign in south Wales under Brian Barry-Murphy, making 41 League One appearances, keeping 16 clean sheets and quickly establishing himself as one of the club’s most important players.
His form during Cardiff’s promotion-winning season had prompted questions among Copenhagen supporters about why the Danish champions were willing to let him leave permanently. Join the Cardiff City breaking news and top stories WhatsApp community.
Now, the club’s technical director Nils Koppen has addressed the decision directly in comments published on Copenhagen’s official website.
“Nathan has delivered a great season in Cardiff, which has meant that they have wanted to keep him,” Koppen explained.
“Since we have assessed that Nathan would not be the first choice at F.C. Copenhagen, and since the agreement also falls within the financial framework that we believe is acceptable, we have chosen to sell Nathan to Cardif.
“We wish Nathan good luck in the future and thank him for his time in Copenhagen.”

Sounds like an ungracious response, when they loaned him out they were involved in the contract details of a buy after loan ?

Maybe the Copenhagen fans weren't happy that he was sold, otherwise seems a strange statement for them to make.
