Cardiff City coach leaves club in surprise announcement


He initially arrived at the club back in 2024 but is departing this summer

The club confirmed the move on Tuesday morning, with Ward bringing the curtain down on a two-year stint on City's coaching team.

Cardiff City can confirm that Goalkeeping Coach, Gavin Ward, will leave the Club at the end of his contract this summer.

Gavin enjoyed playing success with the Bluebirds between 1989 and 1993, winning the Division 3 title and Welsh Cup during the 1992/93 season.

He returned to City in 2024 as Goalkeeping Coach, enjoying promotion in that capacity this season.

We’d like to wish Gav the very best for the future.

I can definitely believe that. BBM will want to bring in his own man, someone that him and Lee Riley know.

Ward was going to leave last summer but BBM persuaded him to sign a one year extension, maybe the Man City academy coach wasn't available but is now.
