Quite an achievement

Postby The Cobra Returns » Mon May 04, 2026 8:31 pm

To go straight back up like we have, was in the championship so long many may not realise how hard it was to get there in the 1st place, season before play offs victory v QPR at millstad it was play off hearbreak V Stoke after et at NP. Then all the other teams to take time getting out of league 1 after relegation, Manchester City, Leeds,Ipswich, Coventry, Derby Reading,Wigan Plymouth, Luton and many more, so well done Cardiff; it ain't easy or guaranteed.

And Sunderland
But this I swear, before you and before Almighty God, that when we go into battle, I will be the first to set foot on the field, and I will be the last to step off, and I will leave no one behind. Dead or alive, we will all come home together, so help me God.

I agree.

I get annoyed when some fans on social media (some our own, some other clubs) say "well Cardiff should have got promoted anyway, it's League One."

Luton were in the Premier League more recently than we were and they didn't get promoted. They and Plymouth brought in loads of players too and we didn't.

We also weren't amongst the top two favourites to go up pre-season.

Also don't like the playing down of our achievement (again both some of our fans on social media and other fans) by saying "it was a weak league". It's difficult to get promoted, it doesn't matter what level you're at. Only six teams get automatic promotion in the EFL and most fans are proud that we were one of them.

The NTT20 video on our promotion was spot on, for anyone that hasn't seen it then search for it on YouTube.

And that's without mentioning we were in a cup quarter final.

So it is a brilliant achievement and well done to everyone involved.

Quite right we certainly were not guaranteed anything. I was expecting us to be in the mix to go up, as I honestly believe while we had a weak team last time out in the championship a decent manager would have kept us up. Again if Tan had got this appointment wrong we would have struggled

In the time i have been watching we have been relegated from the second tier four 4 times and bounced straight back up three times. But on the last occasion before this it took us about 18 years to get back, so I certainly wasn't taking anything for granted this time

That team was the much vaunted Kavanah led team, Leeds slayers, but couldn't get automatic promotion, unlike this seasons bunch
