Scott Parker leaves relegated Burnley

Craig Bellamy is going to be strongly linked to Burnley following Scott Parker's departure.

FAW not received any bids yet but expecting interest in the Wales head coach. Bellamy under contract until 2028 and release clause would be £700,000.

Steven Gerrard has been heavily linked with the position but there has been no formal contact, while sources have indicated that the Clarets have also checked on Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy.

He's not going to leave what he's built in Cardiff for Burnley, plus already made pre season plans in his home country Ireland.
BBM and Cardiff seem to be a good fit, both progressing together, Cardiff have more potential than Burnley.

You're forgetting the Tan factor, he's jot the most attractive CEO to work for

I don't see BBM leaving this summer. He'll want to continue what he's building.

Bellamy a bit more likely for Burnley but depends how much he wants to be in charge for the home Euros in two years.

May depend on Tan's reaction if BBM asks for funds that Tan is unwilling to provide.

Perhaps, but I also don't think Burnley is the right fit for him.

I'd be amazed if he ended up there.

I agree.

He'd effectively have to start from scratch again and who knows whether the potential contained within Burnley's academy would be tempting in the same way that it was here.

I just don’t see Bellamy or BBM going to Burnley.

He’s done well, so inevitably he’ll this be linked with every manager’s job that comes up. Goes with the territory.

Bellers got what he wanted work life balance so can't see him going this side of euros..... bbm depends if he wants to step up from youngsters but unlikely to go this coming season despite tan

There is more chance of me growing a fringe than there is BBM going to Burnley ( and I have been bald for over 40 years!).

‘Sources’ could literally mean anything or could even be made up by the bbc.

He will be linked with loads of clubs this summer. That's something we'll have to get used to.

But I would bet my life that he won't be going to Burnley. Even if he wanted to go, which he clearly doesn't, then that club would be the entirely wrong fit.

I don't know but it's just the sense I get from the way he talks.

He seems to want to build something with us and I think it would take a really big club and the right fit for him to leave now - Burnley are neither.

Correct. We are bigger club than Burnley, fact. They're a tinpot Northern Lancashire backwater, regardless of several seasons in the Prem.

Never get this obsession will our manager go or will Lawlor go. If they continue to be successful they will go - get better replacements! Better than saying the manager needs the sack and the player is crap and we have to pay him off. Oh I forgot this would be the Director of Football to sort out - which we don't have.

I think he's going, no inside info but i think he'll take it with a higher wage on offer
Hope i'm wrong

This is exactly why there's an obsession, who knows what name Tan will pull out of the hat next time. when is the last time we had a manager that left because another club headhunted them, I certainly can't remember one, even the really good ones like Dave Jones and Warnock got the boot in the end

Burnley view Bellamy as a serious candidate for the position, but they face an uphill battle to convince him to return to Turf Moor.

Bellamy coached at Burnley under previous boss Vincent Kompany and was among the candidates to take the top job before Parker's appointment in 2024.

But Bellamy is enjoying his time with Wales and is said to be relishing the opportunity of leading the nation to a home nations European Championship in 2028.

He is also understood to be hold some reservations about the current make-up of the Burnley squad and how much work it may need this summer, with a number of players expected to depart.

There have been no formal bids for Bellamy, while Burnley would have to pay a release clause of at least £700,000 to get him out of his contract with the Football Association of Wales.

Steven Gerrard has been heavily linked with the position but there has been no formal contact, while sources have indicated that the Clarets have also checked on Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy.

Burnley assistant manager Mike Jackson will take charge for the last four games of the season, starting with Friday's trip to Leeds United.

Burnley's dire league form has been compounded by poor cup performances. They were knocked out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup by League One teams - Mansfield beating them in the former and Cardiff in the latter.
