Dalman Says: “NO Money on Signings was Spent” / But he Says

Tue Apr 28, 2026 9:48 am

MEHMET DALMAN:

“ Finances “

MD stated “the club did not spend money on players during this season”, not because it was told not to by the owner but the manager generally did not feel the need to.”

The topic of financing throughout the leagues was discussed. PJ and KC briefed everyone on an upcoming vote of League 1 and League 2 clubs and whether they would be adopting a new system that will limit spending.

At the same time a vote will be taking place in The Championship to either stay with the Profitability and Sustainability system or the alternative Salary Cost Control. So, to that end, those club executives present did not know what money the club would be able to spend next season until it was decided what model they had to work to. The club has currently no input into these discussions as it currently sits outside The Championship.

To spend no money whatsoever on players and still win promotion with squad that had hit rock bottom is so impressive. You've got to take your hat off to the guy (BBM that is, not Dalman!). He's played a blinder!!!

Was Osho free then? The above obviously suggests he was. Nuts that we were able to lure him away from the French top flight for nothing. I wasn't aware his contract had run out or anything.

Let's hope BBM has gone under the radar, i'd hate to see him poached from us before this side reaches it's full potential

BBM Applied for the Job and Said he could do it without any money spent and that’s how he got the Job

Well Done BBM :bluebird:

I do feel you will need money this season coming

Annis,

I think BBM is smart enough to realise also that he'll need money if next season is to be anything other than another fight against relegation.

The problem is whether Tan realises that also.

I wouldn't bet that he does unfortunately.

I think BBM is in a good position to force Tans hand for money(back me or else). He deserves to be fully backed.

My worry is that if he tries that Tan will sack him.

That would be the mother of all protests towards Vincent Tan

Would be interesting to know how much BBM has put on the squad value.

Dare I mention some big bids for one or two youngsters could fund the coming season?

Obviously would rather keep them and increase their value further.

Absolutely agree, I can see us having a very mediocre season unless

A. We spend on a few quality players or
B. BBM manages to do an even better job than this season by securing some quality loans and a freebie or two.

I disagree again.

I think we’d get the usual with a few more hundred on top. It won’t be the 10s of thousands like a ‘mother of all protests’ suggests.

Don’t take my opinion to heart or get angry again as it’s only an opinion!!

You think if murphy was sacked by tan because murphy dare overstep his mark, that there would not be many interested in wanting to protest that we have lost our best manager we have had in years?. Is that what you think, or is it because I have said it? .

My bad, I thought the mother of all protests was mentioned if Tan didn’t spend money. Not about sacking Murphy.

I don’t think Tan would sack Murphy he’s knows he fell lucky there.

This won't happen anyway. If BBM where to leave because he was unhappy about the budget he'd simply go to another club, this isn't Riza or somebody he's a manager in demand. It would be spun as he wanted to go we couldn't hold on to him, simple as that

No mother of all ,i was answering davids, that Tan would sack murphy,
which murphy should not worry about, but if this is what davids was suggesting happened then protests would be huge.
