“ Nathan Trott “

Tue Apr 28, 2026 8:21 am

Cardiff City are hopeful of securing the signing of Nathan Trott on a permanent basis this summer.

Nathan Trott has enjoyed an outstanding season on loan, with Cardiff having an option to trigger a £1.5m clause to make the deal permanent.

No contract or wages have been discussed yet,but Trott wants to stay on and make it a permanent transfer.

Rumours were suggested Trott had turned down an initial contract offer, raising the possibility of a return to Copenhagen, where he remains under contract until 2028, but none of it was true.

That sparked concern among Cardiff fans, but club sources maintain there is quiet confidence a deal remains achievable.

The Bluebirds hold an option to trigger a £1.5million purchase clause following promotion, as part of the original loan agreement, giving them a clear route to make the move permanent.

BBM wants Trott to sign permanently for Cardiff and will hope the Hierarchy back him with the Transfer Fee.

I said I wouldn't be getting carried away with the story when it was said recently on social media that he probably wouldn't be staying, so the same applies now.

But it does sound hopefully like good news.

Signing Trott would be massive.
Would also love to see another season long loan for Kellyman. Can't see him getting into Chelsea's first team

While you're right about him he has said that he sees his future at Chelsea so I doubt he would want another loan to the same club. It also depends what Chelsea want to do with him.

I'm talking about Kellyman not Trott, I think Trott will stay.

I feel another Kellyman loan would be perfect for all parties.

If Chelsea do not see him in the first team squad for next season they would want him out on loan again but in a higher division.

Lucky for us we are now in a higher division. Would be best for all.

I’d like to keep them both but given the choice I’d prefer Trott.

Agreed. If that doesn't happen, BBM is still the 'gold standard' for clubs looking to develop elite talent. Between his tactical style and the genuine buy-in he gets from the dressing room, he’s the perfect bridge for young players making the jump to the first team.

I wonder if any of the Leicester youngsters are on his radar for next year, seen as we are swapping places.
