Yeah it weren't great. Everyone quiet too.
I'm hoping there will be more excitement on Saturday because of the trophy/medals.
Wish I wore a coat too, freezing walking back to town

I don't get his obsession with attendance. We get what we get, that's it.
For every indicator to a higher crowd like, promoted or free tickets, there are opposite indicators like a school night and nothing on the game for us.
All I know is we can sustain large crowds when football is the No.1 entertainment activity in the city. That only comes with top Championship / Premier League football.
We are not a football obsessed city, like a Sunderland or Newcastle. We are affected by the success of Cardiff as a venue, there's too much going on here.

They are football obsessed because their teams have given them mostly top division football to enjoy .if they had our history that would really test their resolve.seasons in top flight newcatle 94 sunderland 88 cardiff 17 .

I feel the same and I thought the crowd of 19,000 wasn’t bad at all for a midweek game with nothing to play for.

I feel the same too. We are who we are.
Our average crowd this season is nearly 3 times what is was the last time we were in this division.

Reasons why I think the crowds are low:
A split fan base over the ownership, a new owner bounce would bring more support.
League 1 football, the closer to the Premiership we are, will bring more support.
The football has been very frustrating and hard to watch at times,, although good enough to get us promoted.
In summary, the more successful the club, the more fans will attend games, that's just the way it is.

This debate has been done to death on here but if Tan left (which I’m pretty sure he won’t) there would definitely be a bounce but crowd wise we’d go back to our usual within no time.

It would help if it was a bit more welcoming at the club and fans were treated with a bit more respect. From the moment you walk towards the gates the atmosphere can be oppressive from some quarters, with some stewards - not all - treating you as if you are a nuisance to be tolerated, rather than a fan who should be welcomed. Not saying it would have made much difference to the crowd - us regulars are so used to it that many don't even notice it- but for the casual fan it can be off putting, especially if you have just paid the best part of £30.

For me, I just can’t agree with this. I see no problem with the club or the ground on match day. I find the stewards absolutely fine and friendly.
Each to their own though.

There is a lot of people in Cardiff not interested in football or Cardiff city. Had a taxi to and from the game and both said was there a game at the stadium!

What are our usual crowds though? As someone else said. Current crowds are bigger than last time we were in this league.

But last night it was £5 a Ticket
And hundreds of extra free tickets given to staff for friends
So yes awful

Plus the last time we were in this division that was a long time ago the fan base had dropped back then.

I don't agree we have a split fanbase, when we went red nobody actually wanted it some were willing to put up with it if it meant success on the pitch. As it stands now though 99% want Tan out. You see disagreement regarding Tan and his clowns but I think it's just all levels of how bad and how much blame should be attributed

Why was the shop closed so early, turned away over a hundred people I counted at least. Said they'd be open after the game as long as there was no pitch invasion???
Thu Apr 23, 2026 12:50 pm
Should be happy that not many extra people turned up, can't see them queuing at the ticket office after that performance from team.

That was a disgrace and shows how badly off the field we are run.

I've been bored at most home games this season. Teams parking the bus and the atmosphere has been shocking for a team who was near the top all season. I won't renew but will continue to follow away and watch Welsh league when we are home. I enjoy grass roots it's still proper football and the standard is decent imo.

To be fair, it will probably be different next season
I don't think our style will change for as long as the manager is at the club but less teams will park the bus because we won't be the big fish in the Championship.

It's shocking, really not good.

I agree, the championship will be different. Maybe our style of football will be a success. Hope so, we definitely need strengthening. If we can sign trott that will be massive.
Thu Apr 23, 2026 5:35 pm
Plenty of room outside the ground for a fanzone, street food vendors, entertainment.we have just got the odd burner van here and there, other grounds feel more welcoming.

A chance to really show what we feel ,
saturday I will be there with the flag it's a special day until next season
Thu Apr 23, 2026 9:29 pm
Didn't help that numerous trains were cancelled on the Rhymney Valley to Cardiff line because of a fallen tree on the tracks. We didn't get in the stadium until nearly 8pm

not sure if this is gospel but someone just posted ticket sales ahead of Saturdays game
Canton sold out .. 280 left in the usual seats open in Ninian with an extra 570 now left in block 117 which is only opened when Ninian Stand is near to selling out. 700 odd in Grandstand and 900 in Family stand
can't imagine Northampton bringing too many ?

Saturday is going to be a party. BBM said he's been told it will be a good crowd.
But last night's attendance was disappointing.
