Teams bouncing back up

Mon Apr 20, 2026 8:18 am

Looking at the stats since 2005 basically only 1 in 4 teams relegated from the championship bounce straight back up With only 16 teams doing this before this season With Wigan and Rotherham doing it twice each
So hats off to the manager and team I must admit I did not think we had a squad go enough to do this with what I thought was a team of failures left apart from a few decent players and basically youngsters who up until then having not set the world alight in their loan periods.
On top of this a really relatively untried manger . I take my hat off to Worcester who stated we had a gem of a manager coming in , Let’s face it the majority of us knew very little about him and apart from his time at Man City his managerial record as manager and assistant manager did not look great
I had us down at the beginning of the season Top 10 and maybe a playoff place.
So I am more than happy how the season has gone and look forward to next season to see if our young team can continue their amazing development

Thanks for what you said about me but honestly I didn't know that much about him when he was first linked. But then read up on a few things which gave me positive signs. I always try to be optimistic about the team too.

But this season has exceeded my expectations. I predicted us to be around the top six but not top two.

Back to your main point, you are spot on that it is not easy to get straight back up from this season. There was understandable fear from some that we'd be stuck in this league for a while, or even slide towards League Two.

A brilliant achievement and well done to all involved :bluebird:
