BBM: A very special time and I'm grateful to the players

BBM:

“It’s a very special time, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity. We could have played better in the first half, but our intent looked aggressive, and we wanted to play like that today.

"Rubin [Colwill] scored what is a very important goal, arriving and then heading it home. In the second half, once we scored the second goal, we showed our class. They had dangerous players on the pitch, so we could never relax until Perry Ng scored.

“It’s an incredible feeling to finally do it. The magnitude of the day is only just beginning to really realise itself and to be understood by so many people.

“Calum Chambers was slightly agitated, and then the noise behind the goal made us know something had happened. It’s nice to achieve this and have the chance to return home on Wednesday and Saturday, to what should be a brilliant occasion.

“The most exciting part for me about being part of this team is the team's potential. There are a lot of young lads. The experience this team has had this season will hopefully fuel their hunger for more next season.

"The mentality of the team all season has been fantastic. I’ve worked at several clubs and seen how difficult it can be for players transitioning into a different league. The players have always been ambitious. If you get that, then you can create something special like we have today.

"It’s very difficult to do it on your own. It’s very dependent on the players playing the way we ask them to play. The vision for the Club was simply to give supporters something they’d be excited to watch again. The fact that it’s been done by so many of their homegrown players has added to that feeling of real pride in your team. So, I’m very grateful to the players in terms of what they’ve achieved this season and how they’ve done it.

“There are so many ups and downs in football, especially playing and managing, so to have a moment like today, I guess to see this club, the size of it, and the passion of the club from supporters and players is a very special feeling.”

Great photo!

He hasn't half put the work in behind the scenes. Instilling a style of play that sort of clicked from game 1. Seems a very hands on manager and incrediably hard working. He deserves this!!!

Humble, intelligent and always calm. He's a fantastic coach. We should have every confidence going into next season with him. Fans need to recognise how lucky we are as I think he will manage in the Premier league one day.
